Trott is a wanted man

AFC Wimbledon are looking to sign a loan deal for Hammers goalkeeper Nathan Trott.

The Dons are looking for a new goalkeeper as the keeper Aaron Ramsdale returned to Bournemouth after his loan deal expired with them.

Trott is available to go out on loan, and is seen as the Hammers future behind the sticks but it’s crucially important that he gains some experience at league One level or better.

The 20 year old is well known to AFC boss Wally Downes from his days at the Irons where he was a defensive coach and he is looking to steal a march on other interested outfits.

The club will probably prefer to send the youngster out to a Championship club but the Downes connection could possibly clinch a deal.

The Irons have brought in both Roberto and David Martin leaving the way clear for Trott to make his mark while out on loan,

The under 23 keeper has represent England’s under 20s and only recently signed a deal which will keep him at the London Stadium until 2022.

  1. If he does go to Wimbledon hopefully he’ll be a bit slow getting down for the first couple of games. Payback time 😉
Div 1 should be a good test and gain experience for awhile.

  2. That would be disappointing. The line we’ve been reading for months is ‘a decent Championship side’, suddenly that’s now ‘League One or better’.

Perhaps nobody rates him in the Championship. Fair enough, but moving from ‘a decent Championship side’ to ‘a poor League One side’ seems too big a drop.

  3. I wouldn’t call Wimbledon a poor League One side. Current form in the last 10 games, stoodt us 8th in the league, with only one defeat in that period. He’ll play plenty of games for us. If you see Ramsdales (On loan from Bournemouth) reaction when we stayed up, dancing in the stands with our supporters, you could see how much it meant to him. He received a hero’s status, that would do him no harm at all.
Even when we were poor under Ardley, we still gave you a good game in the league cup, being one up before Chico took a dive, and got our defender sent off. I won’t mention the FA Cup. As a kid i used to support West Ham. Brooking, Bonds, Devonshire, Van Der Elst, Ray Stewart where heroes of mine, and i personally would love to see a Hammer keeping our goal.
