Tuchel Appointment Provides Clean Slate for Hammers

Thomas Tuchel has signed on to become the next England manager, a move that could be promising news for two West Ham players.

The German tactician is set to succeed interim boss Lee Carsley and will immediately focus on implementing his style with the Three Lions, who have two matches scheduled in November (yes that does mean another tedious international break).

Jarrod Bowen, who was excluded from Carsley’s final squad after being part of the September internationals, could find himself back in contention under Tuchel. Meanwhile, Max Kilman, though yet to earn an England cap, has been in fine form for West Ham this season and may be on the new manager’s radar.

In an interesting twist, Tuchel had once been considered a leading candidate to replace David Moyes at West Ham before Julen Lopetegui eventually took the role.

Tuchel’s managerial career began in 2007 with Augsburg II before he moved to Mainz 05, where he enjoyed five successful years. In 2015, he took over at Borussia Dortmund, followed by a stint at Paris Saint-Germain. His next big move came in 2021 when he was appointed Chelsea manager, though he was dismissed after just over a season. A year later, he took charge at Bayern Munich, a position he left in May.

Strange that Thomas Tuchel thinks he is the English manager and has the backing of the Federation. Still, maybe that an 18 months contract might concentrate his mind on putting out a winning team now instead of continually ‘building for the future’. That should give WHU players like Jarrod Bowen a better chance of meaningful involvement.

Was Tuchel ever a serious candidate for West Ham?
Ok, he may have been clickbait/rumour fodder for the media, but I don’t recall any credible reports about pursuing TT for the West Ham position.
I could has missed them though.
