Sean ,,Antonio is only good for half the games in a season…most prem sides have 3 forwards, if they are in europe sometimes even 4 ….so am I the only one that thinks 1 and a half forwards for a prem season a europe campaign is ridiculous..we needed 2 forwards even without europe.. if we would of not gambled last season with just Antonio,,who knows ,with an extra forward we could be in champions league…dont get me wrong it was a great season and I would of took it at start but who knows how well we would of done with a full squad…

Agree I’d like an out & out CF & then a versatile one is fine who can cover wing too Daka Hložek or Laborde type but all can lead the line. Antonio can also play either wing & could go two up top. We don’t need wingers imo tho linked with some. Talk of EFL hopefully Moyes is looking & he plays if close to chest. All this talk we missed out on Toney, Fry told is & we did, even if we loaned out at £5m been bargain & didn’t take a huge scout network or DOF to see he was talent. Well Posh done to again I’d take a punt on Jonson Clarke-Harris bested Toney’s record with them at 33 league goals during to Championship but Fry has said he will likely have to sell. Just a year older then Toney think he suit the PL has pace tall good in air strong clincal doesn’t drift like Antonio likes to get in 18 yard box which is good. He could be a Vardy & wouldn’t break bank fee or wages. For one of two CFs think be worth it if not he will likely end up at bigger championship side smashing it 25+ then worth £25m. Lead the line in 4231 too so could slot right in if get for preseason especially.
Your right we have paper thin squad for Europe & 2 out two youth in really like look of Chelsea lad need a left footed mid/CB. Mowatt on free too as left footed CM of Kral falls thru all action mid captain & was key to Barnsley amazing campaign. Think we could get some deals then add a Tammy if can get or Daka if not Laborde I like is like not as tall Giroud with pace. Armstrong too but with sell on, Newcastle buying & waiving fee is what they probably want. Otherwise think he could do down to wire but top scorer without Pens in Championship impressed me slot last 10 or so games after came back. Let’s hope Moyes can get it done & we can have a real go in Europa would love to make it far!

I enjoy reading all of the rumours and speculation but it’ll only be meaningful when someone wants to play for us and signs on the dotted line. I’ve never seen most of these play, but I hope we don’t get any of the older ‘guns for hire’ looking for a last pay day. I’ll trust Moyes but I actually don’t think getting in a new forward will be his biggest challenge over the next few months. In my opinion, that will be what another contributor referred to as the ‘massively increased expectation’ of many West Ham fans after our great season. If we don’t recruit half a new squad, many will be grumbling. If we can’t move out some of the fringe players on big wages (and who will take them, I wonder?), many will be pointing fingers. And if we don’t start the season well, many will be quick to complain. There was, after all, lots of negativity when we went on a poor run of results when Declan was injured, so it’s never too far from the surface these days. We can’t compete with the so-called ‘bigger’ clubs in terms of finance and our record last season against them was not good but we have made great strides forward under Moyes and he has brought stability, great team spirit and European football. Let’s all be realistic in terms of the next 12 months. Same again will do me fine. COYI
