Two West Ham supporters have been handed three-year banning orders by the courts yesterday after being convicted of throwing missiles at the London Stadium during the West Ham v Crystal Palace game earlier this season.
Dedicated West Ham police officer Andy Sheldon has revealed on social media: ‘Two West Ham supporters attended Thames magistrates court one for throwing missiles the other for the same offence and a S4 Public order act at the West Ham v Crystal palace fixture earlier this season” Adding that: “The first male has to pay a fine and costs of £235 and received a 3 year football banning order The second male has to pay £357 and received a 3 year football banning order”
When questioned about what missiles were thrown Sheldon revealed that “A bottle of water for the missile and a cup of tea and he spat towards the away supporters for the missile and S4”
The incident close to sections 113 and 114 in the West stand happened after Jordan Ayew celebrated a goal being awarded to Palace through a VAR decision overturning match officials that Ayew’s goal was offside.
There are fresh reports of troubles at Bramell Lane following last night’s VAR decision to rule out Robert Snodgrass’s goal with at least one West Ham supporter invading the pitch and being arrested as well as a number of skirmishes after the final whistle inside and outside the Bramell Lane ground with bottles thrown between the two sets of supporters.
Sheffield police continue to investigate but as yet to make a statement or reveal the number of arrests made last night.
A Police statement is expected to follow in due course.
