West Ham United have entered the race to sign Monaco left-back Caio Henrique, but face competition from Premier League rivals Nottingham Forest according to the Brazilian publication, UOL though neither have made proposals at the time of writing

The Hammers are looking to bolster their defensive options and have identified the Brazilian as a potential target. A note of caution should be added to Henrique’s injury record, which includes a significant knee injury last season, could be a concern for any potential suitors.

However, Henrique’s positional versatility – combined with his strong tackling and confidence when in possession of the ball – make him an attractive prospect for those in the Premier League. The defender has an incredible 33 assists in 130 games for the Ligue 1 club.

Monaco are keen to retain the 27-year-old and are expected to resist offers for the defender.

With Aaron Cresswell now approaching his footballing dotage and Emerson Palmieri having seemingly the only viable option at left back, signing Henrique could be a smart move.

Both right and left bks, 2 players needed for each position.
Giving cover for injury/suspension and competition.
He is able to cover various positions on left which gives versatility similar to Gomez.
A gamble with his old injury being an unknown quantity.
Unfortunately it appears club don’t want to part with him.
Vasquaz/Oosterworlde/Leif Davis other options all playing l/bk and c/bk.
