‘Underwhelming’ | Winger Transfer Doesn’t Add-Up

I get the impression that West Ham needs Reiss Nelson far less than Reiss Nelson needs the Hammers.

The latest updates on the transfer grapevine appear to suggest that Nelson is close to agreeing to a deal with West Ham. However, from the outside looking in, I can’t see any way that this transfer gets completed.

Nelson is on a prohibitively high salary, is overvalued by his club, and is limiting his transfer options by insisting he only wants to transfer to a London-based football club.

The Gunners winger is an okay player, but he’s nothing exceptional. He has played fifty times for Arsenal, scoring four goals, and ironically, he seems to perform particularly well when playing against the Hammers.

He has had loan spells in both Germany and Holland with relative success; however, it’s hard to justify the price tag of £25 million pounds that Arsenal are demanding.

Moreover, if Nelson is pushing for a transfer in the hope of more first-team football, I can’t help but think he’s barking up the wrong tree. While I believe the player would be a decent squad addition at West Ham, I can’t for a moment imagine that he would push either Jarrod Bowen or Mohammed Kudus out of the first-team line-up.

Hammers Chat my first game was West Ham 10-0 Bury . . . seriously!
We than went and bought Bury's central defender 😬⚒️ Irons

Started Hammers Chat alongside my partner in crime Geo back in 2014 and brough in to Claret & Hugh by my old mate Hughie to produce videos a couple of years later.

Give West Ham opinions on Sky Sports News and even did a bit of moonlighting on BBC Football Focus.

Sometimes feature on BBC Radio 5 Live and once ate a biscuit in Tony Gales shed.

Connoisseur of salted caramel doughnuts and I love a Sloppy Giuseppe pizza although I'm slightly suspicious where the name came from.

When I'm not moaning about West Ham I can be found walking a dog that looks like a sheep and tinkering with pinball machines.

Look at all the big six clubs whether it’s Utd, Arsenal, Juventus they are asking fortunes for players that can’t get near their first team, which shows that PSR is working, all of these clubs are now coming unstuck and need to get money in the bank, Arsenal less so than others but still they are trying to screw everything out of the deals.

I would steer clear of him, hoping as well we rub Juventus noses in it with Todibo, they have the audacity to criticise us for upping the proce of the defender when them and all the other big clubs have been bullying smaller clubs for most of their history

Ditto I don’t think I would want any of arsenals cast offs even Nketia

  • Kevlar says:

I agree matt Soule is a far better prospect or wahl from lens !!!

    • Andy says:

Soule is a left-footed RW, which with Bowen, Kudus & Guilherme we simply don’t need. Wahl is a striker .. Nelson is a right-footed LW which is a position we need to fill. Nelson is home-grown & English so fits another squad requirement.

We have at least 8 homegrown at the moment,so hardy a requirement in signing new players.

      • elduder says:

soule isn’t a left footed RW, he just played one on loan

like all our attacking midfielders they can be played on either side, you either cross or strike at goal unless your a bowen who can do either with both feet

the point is soule is probably best in the centre but there is no reason you couldn’t play him across the three

tell me andy, who is going to step up and find a pass if it goes sideways against paq? JWP? take your hand of it…

  • Matt says:

Can see the dressing room kicking off if we sign this guy on anywhere near £100k p/w.

Let Palace sign him and buy Soule!
