Besiktas confirm Kyle Walker-Peters deal collapsed, opening door for West Ham to seal transfer

Beşiktaş have posted a statement on their official website detailing the breakdown of communications over the transfer of Kyle Walker-Peters.

The former Southampton player—and now free agent—is believed to have stalled on a move to the Süper Lig club, forcing them to officially pull out of the deal. ExWHUEmployee revealed earlier today that, as a result, West Ham are now open to bringing the twice-capped England right-back to the London Stadium.

The story was confirmed when Claret & Hugh spoke to a senior club source, and it now seems that momentum is building towards the 28-year-old former Spurs player joining the Hammers.

A clearly frustrated Beşiktaş released the following statement on their club website earlier this afternoon:

“It is publicly known that the arrival of professional football player Kyle Walker-Peters, with whom we had previously announced an agreement in principle and invited to Istanbul for a medical check-up, has been postponed.

Kyle Walker-Peters has once again requested an extension in the notice he sent to us today.

Thereupon, our club gave up on the transfer of the player in question.

Our club continues its transfer activities in line with the policy it has determined.

We respectfully submit this for public information.

Beşiktaş JK”

With Walker-Peters now back on the market, West Ham look poised to act quickly to move quickly to add to Graham Potter’s squad.

This is so obviously a Sullivan pick and not a Potter one. Totally wrong age profile.

    Martinez fits our requirement perfectly.

This would just provide further proof that Sullivan has learned nothing from repeated past mistakes.

So much for not buying players who are past their prime.

    It’s the hope that kills.

If we spent £12m on Martinez, and had nothing left for the much needed midfielder or forward everyone would be saying what a waste of money and we should have gone for KWP on a free. They can’t win. He’s a decent player, and a great back up for both full/ wing back positions (right and left), moreover if we ever need to move Obi Wan to the right centre half position, he would fit brilliantly into his right back wing back roll.

    • Bart says:

That’s always the excuse we’re given though. It shouldn’t be an either/or. I bet there’s a signing on fee for KWP and higher wages. Over the course of a three year deal I would bet he’ll cost more.

My wife considers anything on sale a bargain whether it’s what we need it or not. But ultimately it’s a waste of money.

Martinez can cover centre back and midfield, has considerable potential to improve and move the team forward and/or generate a significant profit if he does get poached.

Obviously he may have turned us down but the “budgeting” this summer is a choice not a necessity.

Another indicator that we know nothing about the clubs intentions and discussions behind closed doors and the itk’s know little more than we do. As the song says, “you can’t always get what you want” and sometimes you can but not in the order you might prefer. In other words, maybe not perfect but not a bad move either.

bit little too late for WP now? Surely, focus needs to be midfield and upfront?

  • Hazzy says:

Why on earth would West Ham waste money on another defender. Their priorities must be two midfielders and a striker.

    • Jamie says:

We have 1 right back and 2 left backs with Emerson leaving. With afcon AWB and diouf will be leaving for 6 weeks.. what should we do then for full backs.

      • Gonzo says:

Scarles on the left and KWP on the right by the looks of it

        • M B says:

KWP is not good enough and doesn’t meet age profile of Potter policy. He was linked with West Ham a long time before Potter joined so feels like this is a Sullivan choice – free transfer with limited resale value.

  • Dave H says:

Can tell Sully is involved. Embarrassing. BRING TIM BACK – SULLY OUT

    • PB61 says:

How can you tell Sully is involved?

      • M B says:

West Ham were looking to sign him years ago but opted Coufal. Then they considered last summer before opting for AWB. All of this was before Potter.
