Unhappy Soucek earns less than Hammers flop

CandH Exclusive by Hughie Southon

Tomas Soucek and West Ham manager David Moyes are no closer to solving their differences over an improved contract for the Czech midfielder.

And ClaretandHugh understands that at least two Premier League clubs have been alerted to the 27 year old’s availability.

Moyes is refusing to offer the player any improvement at all and the big shock is that £27 million flop

signing Nikola Vlasic, who the club are keen to move on, is on around £20k a week more than the defensive midfielder.

And Said Benrahma is also on a higher wage as speculation rages that he will be sold if the manager can get any sort of decent price.

Soucek is understandably unhappy that after playing 54 games for the club last term he won’t even be offered parity with two players who made 56 appearances between them – the majority of which were as subs.

Little will happen in the market until July when clubs are aware of exactly how much they have to spend but Soucek remains odds on to leave in what are clearly difficult circumstances for him.

  1. Great piece Hughie with the compare and contrast of Vlasic and Benrahma to Soucek laid out to see, and who can blame Tomas for being miffed? After two hard seasons of graft it must really rankle that Mr Moyes won’t even consider parity with two misfires. That is how a dressing room goes toxic and the manager is right in amongst it.

  2. Pay the man…he’s worth it!
I find it incomprehensible that the club are quibbling over the salary of one of the very best midfielders to play for West Ham. Do they really want him to move to a rival club?

  3. Pay the man his worth , he has been great for us hard working and gives his all !

  4. Agree completely!

  5. jusr how much anger is Moyes attempting to nurture amongst the fan base. Tomas is adored by mpst who support the club. absolutely bonkers!

  6. Some would say it’s the timing of his substitutions or lack of them, some would say it’s his supposed dithering in the market, some would say it’s his reluctance to use the u23’s but for me this would be David Moyes’s biggest mistake.

  7. An example of what is wrong with the current structure, moyes should not be making decisions on players salaries and what increases they are offered or not. He should just concentrate on whether he wants a player based on football reasons only. The club needed a genuine independent dof. This window is so important to the club, and we have to get it right just to stay where we are .

  8. Pay Soucek his market value.
Too long have West Ham relied on the good nature of a few of it’s employee’s and been mugged by mercenary, pocket-filling ‘professionals’ who have taken advantage..?
I’ll include the likes of Yarmalenko going back through Ayew, Perez, Andy Flaming Carroll, Maiga, Carlos Sanchez, Nasri, Chicharito, Diop, Diarra, Zaza, etc. all the way back to Davoe Sukor, going further back Jimmy Greaves….
