Manchester United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer maintains that Jesse Lingard will be ready to take on West Ham this weekend despite his unbelievable error in the Champions League.
Lingard was directly at fault for Young Boys’ winner as United fell to a shock defeat in their opening group game.
With the score locked at 1-1 in injury time, Lingard attempted a blind back pass, which went directly into the path of Young Boys’ striker Jordan Siebatcheu to score.
United will be back in action in the Premier League this weekend against the Irons and Solskjaer maintains that the England international, who obviously spent the second half of last season on loan at the London Stadium, will be in the right frame of mind to play.
Quoted by the London Evening Standard, he said:“With Jesse, no footballer likes making mistakes but it’s obviously part and parcel of the game.
“We’ll learn from it, he’ll learn from it. We’re humans, every footballer makes mistakes.
“He’ll pick himself up and be ready to go on Sunday against West Ham.”
Even if Lingard doesn’t play in the Premier League encounter, he may well play against the Hammers later in the week in the EFL Cup.
