Unlikely star witness aids Hammers case

|

Aleksansdar Mitrovic acted as West Ham’s star witness in yesterday’s FA independent panel hearing to get the Tomas Soucek red card overturned.

The Fulham striker provided a written submission to the appeal panel, which confirmed their clash on Saturday was completely accidental.

Soucek received a  controversial straight red card for violent conduct from referee Mike Dean after consultation with VAR Lee Mason.

The FA Independent panel found in West Ham’s favor on Monday lunch time cancelling Tomas Soucek’s three match ban and making him available for action in the FA cup tonight.

Mike Dean has asked Mike Riley to be excluded for next weekend’s Premier League games after he and his family received physical threats on social media.

Lee Mason is set to be the fourth official at Old Trafford tonight in West Ham’s fifth round FA cup tie against Manchester United.

Tonight referee is Paul Tierney with Craig Pawson and Richard West on VAR duty.

Surely that was the least he could do as it was his play acting that started the VAR witch hunt. The rough n tough Serbian wouldn’t be a match for my great grandaughter if he goes over that quickly. He’s probably seen the replay, read all the comments ridiculing him and felt embarrassed. As he should.

We rightly express relief at the result of the appeal but what about some condemnation of the scum who threatened the officials?
