I can’t actually believe that I’m about to write the following words but . . . Basketball legend Shaquille O’Neal is reportedly considering purchasing a stake in West Ham United.

Yes, you did read that correctly, The Sun are claiming the giant basketball star visited the London Stadium, watched West Ham play, and fell in love with the club (presumably it wasn’t the Arsenal game).

I have checked the story three times and ensured my calendar doesn’t say April 1st, but it seems to be a genuine article. I can’t attest as to whether the rumour is true or not, but the red top tabloid are going with it.

Shaq is known for his iconic career with the LA Lakers, was apparently captivated by West Ham club after attending a game last season. According to The Sun, O’Neal, who has expressed a keen interest in British football, is exploring the possibility of investing in the club. He is currently evaluating the financial aspects of such an investment.

Despite his significant wealth, his net worth is a modest $500m compared to the billionaire status of most other club shareholders.

Well if he can’t afford it why doesn’t he team up with the American golfer that loves West Ham. He must have a few bob. Then there’s the American Wrestler that loves West Ham. I’m sure he’s not short of a few quid. Anyone else? We’ll accept dollars.

      Mike J,
I’d stick him in goal as he’d have no trouble tipping a shot over the crossbar and I believe he is as wide as he is tall so no need to dive for shots. Also might stop us shifting another 74 goals next season 🙃. COYI
