Enner Valencia’s possible switch to Lazio is still some way off despite intense speculation that he’s on his way to the club.

ClaretandHugh has learned this morning that the Italian outfit like the player but would sooner do a season-long loan deal with  an option to buy. That is unacceptable to the Irons who want a permanent deal sorted.

Reports last night that the Ecuador international was on the verge of a £10 million move to the Serie A club- according to the Italian media – are a litle wide of the mark.

There are also fresh rumours that Swansea hold an interest in the player and we can confirm there is interest from Wales and that Valencia’s advisors have spoken to them.

However, we were told by sources close to the talks last night: ” Lazio like the player but there is no proposal from them at this stage.

“Swansea have always liked the players but there is no movement at this moment. However, it is likely that there will be an agreement that he should move on from West Ham before the end of the summer.”
