Valencia confirms Chicharito interest

Valencia manager Marcelino García Toral has publicly spoken for the first time about the possibility of  Hammer Javier Hernandez before the transfer deadline closes next week.

“Chicharito is an option because he isn’t playing much and is in favour of joining, but the situation is complicated,” Marcelino is reported as saying by Spanish newspaper Mundo Deportivo  “The little information I have is that West Ham are only considering a sale, but my job is to put a team out. I’m not the one who decides whether or not to buy footballers.”

West Ham wants a minimum of £12 million from Valencia if they are to be persuaded to allow Javier Hernandez to move to Spain this winter.

The Spanish outfit remains keen on the striker but is pushing for a loan deal with possible subsidised wages to which the Hammers have already made clear they are not interested in granting. Reports in Spain suggest that Valencia would struggle to fund the transfer fee and the striker’s huge weekly wages. Club insiders have told us several times in the past few weeks that no first team player will be allowed out on loan.

  1. I really believe we need to do the right thing here and accept an offer in the region of 10m. Even if we sell Perez too. With Arne staying, Antonio can play up top, promote young Silva and big Andy until the end of the season. It just makes complete sense to offload now and either invest the money in the Gomez deal or put it in the bank for the summer.

  2. I don’t think Hernandez heart is at West Ham , he’s playing like he’s not interested. I for one know he is a very good player when his mind is on it .Why should we let him go for less than £12 million , he is worth every penny of that . I agree get him sold an invest that as part of the Gómez deal which I pray we get done .That will also free up a very big wage makes business & footballing sense. I hope for everyone’s sake Hernandez gets his move . Ps surprised by the Arnie u- turn but prepared to forgive & forget if he gets his head down. Can you imagine the brilliance of Arnie & Gómez up top , wow that would be awesome . COYI ⚒

  3. Sorry to see it hasn’t really worked out for Hernandez in Claret & Blue, but agree that letting him move and investing in a new striker, (Maybe the fella Celta Vigo are trying to bring in to replace Gomez?) and accept this season is not going to end up with European place and plan for 2020……

  4. Playing Hernandez in the cup suggest the club doesn’t see things the same way as Valencia, if they offer 12 million would be interesting to see what happens, although Hernandez offers us something different, i.e. a fox in the box so I think his goals may prove pivotal before the end of the season. Hopefully we get Maxi Gomez in, that guy Duvan Zapata we put a bid in for is also a hell of a player, looks almost a like for like swap for Arnie, very physical, naturally two footed, exceptional pace, maybe we will go back in for him at the end of the season but Zapata and Gomez look like they could forge a good relationship.
