An overwhelming number of West Ham fans have voted Enner Valencia’s sensational goal against Hull as the best in the last 10 years.
The Ecuador international’s effort has been dubbed the best of the season so far by many TV pundits but Hammers fans have gone much further in a ClaretandHugh poll.
We asked whether it was the best Hammers goal everi or the last 10 or 20 years and the result was overwhelming.
We also asked if it people considered it “not that special.”
A total of 471 (73.25) voted it the best in 10 years, 54 (8.4 per cent) the best in their lifetime and 21 (3.27 per cent) the best of the last 20 years.
A surprising 61 votes (9.49 per cent) were cast for” not very special” with 36 (six per cent) voting Don’t Know.
I think the reason people voted for ‘Not that special’ – as did I, is that there was no category inbetween for ‘Best Goal in Ten Years’ and ‘nothing special’. This leaves quite a gap!
It was obviously a special goal and an outstanding strike but can it compare to Di Canio vs Wimbledon? or Nolan vs Derby? There are lots of spectacular goals!
Had there been a category for ‘Great goal, contender for goal of the season’. I think I would have ticked that box!
good poll tho.
