Valencia met by police after training

|

Valencia_3191610Enner Valencia has been met by police and lawyers in Ecuador following a training session while on international duty.

The striker a was faced by authorities holding a judicial order, with lawyers representing the mother of his five-year-old daughter seeking an alleged £13,350 in maintenance, reports the Liverpool Echo.

The 26-year-old was greeted at the Atahualpa stadium in Quito on Wednesday, where Ecuador were training ahead of their World Cup qualifier against Chile.

The lawyers however failed to have the player detained.

“It’s lamentable that certain police officers didn’t collaborate with the detention of the footballer Enner Valencia, to ensure compliance with a judicial order”, said Paul Marín, a lawyer for the mother of Valencia’s child, to journalists.

According to Marín the total debt stands at 17,000 dollars (£13,350).

“If they say this man earns so much, why doesn’t he pay [the maintenance] monthly to his daughter,” said Marín.

That video of an injured enner in a golf cart being chased round the stadium by police is great. All it needs is some benny hill music.

And I’d have guessed that it’s been about 5 years and nine months since he last scored!
