Valencia scores in Copa America

ValenciaWest Ham striker Enner Valencia helped Ecuador earn a crucial 2-2 draw with Peru by scoring in the group stages of the Copa America at the University of Phoenix Stadium, Glendale in Arizona yesterday. Valencia’s equaliser six minutes before half-time kept Ecuador in the hunt for qualification from the Copa America Centenario group phase. La Tricolor were staring elimination in the face when Peru raced to a two-goal inside 13 minutes.

Enner Valencia’s Copa America campaign got underway in the early hours of last Sunday as Ecuador battled to a  0-0 draw with Brazil. Valencia played 81 minutes of the Group B draw in Pasadena, with Peru defeating Haiti 1-0 in the group’s other fixture.

Winning his 26th cap with Ecuador, his Group B campaign concludes this Sunday when they take on Haiti at the MetLife Stadium in New Jersey.

  1. Well done Enner from someone who supports you as you currently play for the Irons and knows you may read this in the future.
All the best in the Copa America
    From the
    Weak minded jerk

  2. Absolutely delighted for him and to think we are considering offers for him what a joke. Bilic had a great season but I had two disappointments in relation to his management, number 1 he did not seem to give Sakho and Valencia the opportunity to reignite their brilliant partnership – instead opting for AC. I really hope Enner has a great tournament – I want Enner at West Ham next season. My second disappointment was that he did not give Oxford more time.

  3. If you play Valencia through the middle he scores lots of goals, we play him wide and left based on what you see of him playing for Ecuador you can only imagine he is told to play wide and left for us and not to drift into the centre. I think Valencia really is a top player we just don’t utilise him properly and still every time I watch him play he does so much defensively as well as running the left channel.
