Video: David Moyes Aston Villa Pre match presser

David Moyes gave his Aston Villa pre match press conference today and his first question was on Antonio…
“He’s joined in in training a couple of days. We’re trying to see how he is. It’s just great to get him back out on the training pitch with us at the moment.
“We want competition for places and I think we’ve got that now. Hopefully when he gets that opportunity we’ll be ready, but we’ve got good competition for places at the moment.”

On Aston Villa and West Ham’s improvement this season…
“The last game of the season Villa came to the London Stadium needing something to stay up. I think it shows the improvement of both sides.
“We’re pleased with the way the players have gone about it. We’ve picked up where we left off and picked up some big points in what has been a really difficult opening period.”

On the return of supporters to London Stadium…
“It’s great news for anybody who loves football. We were really looking forward to getting supporters back into the Stadium. We’d have liked to have had more, but it’s a start. Hopefully the quicker we can get to bigger numbers, the better.”

On the late, great Diego Maradona…
“I was trying to remember what my first memory of him was. I was trying to come through the Scottish youth team and he was in the Argentina U18s. He was fantastic.
“With Dubai in Manchester United, he met the players and I was really thrilled to meet him there. It was a great experience.”

On the improvement in standards…
“We’ve had a lot of confidence from the start. We’ve felt like we’re improving. I see it daily in training and with that victories have come and we’ve got some points from it.”

On Seb Haller’s form...
“The three games that Antonio’s been out, Seb’s played and we’re really pleased with what he’s done. We wanted goals from him, we wanted assists and we wanted really good general play. I’m looking forward to having both him and Michy firing.”

On Aston Villa’s impressive form so far this season…
“I think they were at the top of the league for a spell, Aston Villa, and it just shows you how quickly football can change. They’ve had some really good recruitment this summer and I think that’s given them a really good chance of finishing strongly.”

On maintaining momentum this season…
“I’m just hoping that we can continue our good form. I think we’ve been good at creating chances. One of the big things was to try and improve defensively, keep clean sheets, and thankfully we’re showing that side of our game as well. To score goals against Leicester, Wolves and Tottenham shows we’ve got that capability as well.”

On the statistic that West Ham’s last eight goals have come from eight different players…
“That is good. It shows we’re trying to get different people forward and into the box. We’d like our centre-forwards to get the numbers, but I’m really pleased everybody’s getting the chance to get goals.”

On fans’ prospective return to stadia across the country…
“I’ve got no doubt they’ll play their part in following the rules and the Club will have everything set up. I’m really looking forward to having the supporters back and seeing a hungry, energetic team who are picking up some good results.
“I think the good news for me is the lowly clubs are getting supporters back as well, which is really important for clubs around the country.”

On Aston Villa forward Jack Grealish and West Ham defender Aaron Cresswell…
“First of all, Aaron Cresswell has been excellent for us. On both occasions I’ve been here he’s played very well. He’s at the age now where he’s understanding the game better and his reading of it, and he’s playing very well. He can play a couple of roles and he’s left-sided, so I wouldn’t be surprised if he gets called up in the future.
“On Grealish, I think he’s a fabulous player. He’s got terrific ability and he’s always looked a good player.”
