Video: Matchday Experience

Well this time it was my daughters turn to visit the London Stadium following my sons decision to take the season ticket for the previous game v Manchester United. Which one drew the short straw? . . . . . . .  well that depends on whether you consider a thrashing or an inept refereeing performance to be worse.

With the exception of Winston Reid there was not an awful lot to admire on the pitch but the home fans self deprecating humour was a joy to behold. The chant of “You’re nothing special, we lose every week” was applauded throughout.

Personally I’m quite gutted because I go into every season expecting to win the FA Cup and the dream is now over for another year. However the next game is hugely important because it see’s Sam Allardyce bring his Palace team to West Ham and whilst I never like losing a defeat against our former manager doesn’t bear thinking about.

Anyway, hopefully you enjoy the crowd scenes even if you’d rather not re-live the 5-0 thrashing.

  1. Love the loyalty.
Me and my 2 sons Alfie 13 and Louie 10 have season tickets and travel down from Yorkshire to every home game. They get teased at school too being the only West ham fans there by all the so called Liverpool, Man Utd and even Chelsea. But I said the same to them that they are true loyal fans who go to the games unlike all there friends who jump on the band wagon and support whoever wins the league never actually getting off the sofa to watch them!!. I tell my boys that our day will eventually come.

    • Exactly mate, I said to all of my kids that they can support who they wish but following West Ham will mean they actually get a day out at the football regularly. The great irony is that my kids have actually seen the likes of Sanchez & Toure play more than the Arsenal & City fans in their schools.
