According to Italian outlet Corriere della Sera Roma West Ham United is reportedly on the verge of securing a loan deal for AS Roma striker Tammy Abraham. The move would include an obligation to buy the player for £18.5 million. However, this conflicts with other reports which indicate that Aston Villa are close to signing the former Chelsea striker.
Previous reports suggested that West Ham would need to sell a number of fringe players to free up funds for Abraham. However, the article indicates that the club may be able to make the deal happen without anyway.
However, during C&H’s contact with a high ranking Hammers source, they have denied the Abraham rumour at every opportunity.
There may be little or no truth in either report, but should the Villa links be accurate, it would open up the possibility to revisit our interest in Jhon Duran.
This would be a decent deal if it could happen, but there are too many conflicting reports to fill me with sufficient confidence.
Wonder where we’re finding £40m from this late in the window? Not happening.
Season loan with obligation. Will come from next season’s budget
Villa would let Duran leave on a deal like that? Doubtful
