Jaden Philogene’s return to Aston Villa could hasten the arrival of Jhon Duran to West Ham after Monday’s Copa America final in Miami.

West Ham had been linked with Philogene; however, the Midlands club always had the advantage with a buyout clause worth £13m, as Villa also insisted upon a 30% sell-on included in their original agreement with Hull City.

Although the winger primarily plays in a different position from Colombia’s Duran, Villa was understood to be keen to secure an attacking signing before sanctioning Duran’s exit.

Colombia plays Argentina in the final of the Copa America, and Sky Sports has reported that West Ham will look to conclude the transfer after that game. Darmesh Sheth reported yesterday that the young Villa forward had become West Ham’s primary striker target.

Philogene has signed a five-year deal, with the complicated transfer being listed at £13m, although his valuation is thought to be higher due to the 30% sell-on not being applicable.

Shame we’ve missed out on Jaden Not convinced that Duran is worth £35M and we will just be helping them strengthen Villa’s team by financing Jaden’s switch.

Clubs need to wheel and deal in these days of PSR, particularly the clubs that don’t have the highest revenues.

Just the fact that Villa have spent money makes it more likely that they will sell someone with Duran being touted by Villa and West Ham sources plus ITKs so it seems likely.

Duran is away with Columbia so not yet a while.
