Villa want Snodgrass wage sharing loan deal

snoddy5Aston Villa  have made their first move for Robert Snodgrass just a week after the club’s owner dismissed the widely reported speculation as a “made up rumour.”

But tonight we have learned that Villa supremo Dr Tony Xia ha made his interest known to the Irons but wants a wage sharing season-long deal.

The ‘Snodgrass for Villa’ saga started on August 9 when ourselves and virtually every media outlet reported an interest.

Hoever a seemingly outraged Xia came out 24 hours later on Twitter claiming that neither Snodgrass or Jordan Rhodes were on the club’s target list and that such stories weere “made up rumours.”

Things then went quiet as we reported soon after but today Villa made their move and we have learned they are keen to do a 50/50 wage sharing deal on the player’s £60k a week peronal terms.

The Hammers are keen to offload the £8 million January signing and are certain to do some sort of deal for a player who was excluded from the squad which lost to Manchester United last weekend.

But the club takes the view that Villa should pay at least 60 per cent of his wages and the Hammers will also want payments should the midlands outfit be promoted or Snodgrass helps them avoind relegation.

Manager Steve Bruce has turned to his former Hull City player after collecting just one point from his first three games.

  1. I’m sure we will end up paying part of his wages, just a matter of getting the best deal.

    • I actually thought he was a decent signing when we got him.
Certainly no Payet, but solid. Jesus wept, how wrong was I?

Now, can we sort out a similar deal with the barcodes for Spire Rodings greatest benefactor?

      • Slav played him out of Position still a decent player but confidence shot. He is RW not LW that’s always been best position.

  2. Can we just take a second to reflect how badly this transfer has gone?

It was only the last window we spent 10 million on a player we’re already willing to PAY another club for him!

It’s not like it’s for him to get game time for his future peak!

    • Dangers of January window especially when player is not actually needed should have waited and got Hakem Ziyech still want him keen last summer.
Now wishing we got Clucas for midfield then for £10m.
But really January is a window for loans and very shrewd signings not replace your best creator.
But Loan only of they pay wages and they can and plenty of teams out there we can sell too who . championship he is strong….. Might take a hit but £6m would be good feather than loan with what we made of Fletcher and others

  3. Villacan afford is wages and £6-£8m for him. They need to sell off some players but that can.
If we did loan I would want all wages covered and permanent buy next summer.
Celtic are keen too and Roberts might not go back he might have to take a pay cut there but that is his boyhood club. And they could afford the transfer fee. Leeds as well have money. He is a great Championship player.
Supoosedly Bid for Demebele so could trade Snodgrass for Dembele plus cash. But don’t think we will get another striker unless on loan. Tho think we need 1 to Academy George Hirst pls..

  4. Get him out on loan even if we pay half of his wages, Bruce will be sacked in a couple of weeks or less so best to get him in there before that happens, I just read a classic piece of clickbait saying fulham had signed Fonte but was then disappointed to find it was not our Fonte but Rui Fonte.
