Vladi Coufal an unhappy man
West Ham may be looking for a new right back in the current window with Vladi Coufal an unhappy man.
The 31 year old was hoping for a vastly improved contract but instead saw only marginal improvements on a one year deal he signed recently.
His agent claimed earlier in the month that the player deserved a lot better and nothing has changed as we head into the second half of the season.
The fact that the club decided against giving him a much better deal suggests that his age and form may have been considered problems although he has looked pretty decent in recent games.
With Ben Johnson on his way apparently either tis month or in the summer and Thilo Kehrer now on loan at Monaco, the right back position is now a bigger issue than the left side.
It’s a strange scenario given the problems at central defence for a manager who has always been known to build from the back.
Nayef Aguerd could be on his way and a decision will be made on skipper Kurt Zouma’s position in the summer or next winter whilst the club are continuing to think about a new Oggy contract.
Coufal’s agent made the position very clear with his client when telling Czech site inFotbalu: “Cuf certainly deserves a better salary from the club and a new, improved, longer-term contract for his long-term performances in the West Ham jersey, in addition to the title in the Conference League.
“So far, even after negotiations, West Ham’s management sees it differently and has only exercised the option of a one-year extension. Cuf is not happy about it as we expected a better offer.”
