It has been well known that Manchester United have been keen on upgrading their own right-back with Aaron Wan-Bissaka having just one year left on his contract: The Red Devils have been trying to acquire Moroccan International Noussair Mazraoui but, by their own admission needed to sell Wan-Bissaka first.
We know that Tim Steidten had been trying to negotiate for a new Irons’ right back, Wan-Bissaka being one of the shortlisted players along with Southampton’s Kyle Walker Peters. Both were considered expensive and neither club appeared flexible on price, so Steidten pivoted, news coming yesterday that West Ham were expressing interest direct to Bayern Munich over the acquisition of Mazraoui.
What has become clearer today is that Wan-Bissaka has rejected a move to East London, pushing instead for a move to Inter Milan according to The Athletic.
Whilst this is an unwelcome trend this transfer window, with several players reportedly choosing to snub The Hammers in favour of moves elsewhere, it is always going to be a tough ‘sell’ with no European football at London Stadium this season to help players boost their own profile and their ambitions.
The pivot towards Mazraoui will be seen as either a bold Steidten move or a reflex of desperation – we await the reaction of our own ‘comments’ section. Importantly, as we reported earlier whilst terms have been agreed with both the player and Bayern Munich at 15 million euro plus add-ons, legal and financial points remain to be resolved so the door for Manchester United is still ajar.
Just get the bayern right back in and go for ivan toney before someone else does!!!
Transfers are not straight forward things. You can’t just go out and get whoever you fancy. It is a very competitive market and not an infinite one. With competition for players, unrealistic values and dodgy agents looking to make the best deal for themselves, it is a minefield.
Players will prefer to do all manner of things, some will prefer to come here. Prefers to go to Milan, what’s surprising about that ?
Personally I see little improvement in our transfer business under the new management. I hope to be proved wrong soon, very soon because time is running out! 😊⚒️⚒️
Even with class operators like Tim and Julen we continue to lurch from one fumble to another in the transfer market. With players not wanting us, and high prices inducing young player inclusions to the deal, we seem to be in for everyone, getting noone, and dithering all the way. I wonder why?
Players knocking us back for European football!! Quelled surprise……. thanks Moyes
If we succeed in pinching Mazraoui out of Man U’s grubby paws and p* them off in the process, then irrespective of however good he is, I reckon it’s €15m well spent. F##k ’em!
Hopefully this is the final lesson to the club to avoid Silkman & his dodgy dealing.
How many times has he approached the club with “deals” (to drum up interest from other clubs) only for the player to back-out or not want to come as if the agent wouldn’t already know that?
West Ham’s transfer sagas have more twists and turns than any TV drama I have ever seen!
There used to be a TV show in Australia about a family called The Sullivans but it had nothing on the true life drama of the Sullivan who is head of the West Ham family! 😱
Need to stop wasting time on players who dont want to join and concentrate on player who want to be at the club.
Formal
Part time Brady and Sullivan strike again
