Aaron Wan-Bissaka’s performance on his debut for West Ham United against Crystal Palace was a major highlight of the match. However, the former Manchester United defender’s impressive display has raised further questions about the future of Vladimir Coufal at right-back.

Wan-Bissaka’s impact was immediate. Coming off the bench in the second half, he immediately showcased his defensive prowess, shutting down Crystal Palace’s left flank. His ability to win tackles, intercept passes, and track back defensively was crucial in containing the opposition’s attacks.

In addition to his defensive contributions, Wan-Bissaka also demonstrated his attacking abilities. He drove forward with the ball from his own half, creating the opportunity for Soucek’s goal,  and providing an outlet for West Ham’s midfielders.

Wan-Bissaka’s performance has strengthened his case for a starting role in the upcoming match against Manchester City. If he continues to impress, Coufal may face increased competition for his place in the starting lineup.

West Ham United’s decision to sign Wan-Bissaka appears to be a shrewd one. We might have had to wait a while, with Manchester United never the easiest club to deal with. However, the defender’s talent and versatility could be a valuable asset for the club in the coming seasons.

“However, the defender’s talent and versatility could be a valuable asset for the club in the coming seasons.”

Another understatement, Simon. But one where you are absolutely right. Wasn’t AWB good! There’s only one Wan-Bissaka, one Wan-Bissake ….🎤🎼

Wan Bissaka two bissaka three bissaka four
Pass the ball to Bowen who’s certain to score

    Very good Bacon. What sauce!

If only we could hear you two 😀

  • 60sSupporter says:

But seriously folks, SImon’s description sounds a bit like Coufal when we first got him.

  • JK says:

I have to agree that AWB performance was better than Vlad. Even though I like Vlad for his heart and fighting spirit I don’t see him in as a 1st team regular. If I were Vlad with only 1 year contract which is below average and I wouldn’t be a starter for City match I would push as much as possible to leave the club….

    • Paul Taylor says:

It’s a long old season and room for both player’s, two for each position which is the ideal with injuries and suspensions. Lopetegui has confounded all of our expectations with his team selection’s so far and is totally unpredictable so can’t wait to see his lineup for the Bournemouth game but should be a great night.

  • Bernie Woollands says:

Why do we have to be so bi-polar?
AWB in = chuck Vlad out.
If we do that we’d be back to the thin squad we had last season.

Let’s embrace the depth we now have and the options it gives us.
PL, Carabao and FA Cup ahead. The more strength in depth we have the better we can compete.

    • Taffyhammer says:

Too right Bernie. Vlad Coufal is far from finished here. AWB was a revellation. A new style of play all by himself. Wouldn’t it be great if every one of our players stayed awake and joined in with positive movement every moment of every game? End the spectator style and embrace the progess. Well done Aaron.

Whu are now in a similar situation with both left and right backs.
There’s squad players and back ups.
Coufal has to accept he will become one of the latter just like Cresswell.
He will continue to fight for his position but unfortunately age determines your speed.
It was mentioned in Villa game towards back end it looked like he was on half throttle.
Cresswell is the same and a replacement should have been signed to cover Emerson.

  • Ian Salisbury says:

What a difference he made, it should mean that Coufal is no longer needed, the cover for him should come from the younger players.
An ideal opportunity to recoup some of the outlay.
