Warburton excited for Rangers

|

Mark Warburton insists tonight’s clash between the Hammers and Rangers will be a great occasion for supporters, as per the club’s official website.

The Hammers are set to take on the Scottish giants as they continue their pre-season prep ahead of the 2022/23 campaign.

Thus far, David Moyes’ side have beaten Servette and Ipswich Town and drawn with Boreham Wood and Reading.

Rangers, by comparison, have beaten Blackpool.

Warburton has been appointed to David Moyes’ backroom team this summer, and he is excited to see the Irons play Rangers in a game that could well have been the Europa League final last season.

Rangers reached the final but were beaten by Eintracht Frankfurt on penalties, with the German side having knocked out the Hammers in the last four.

Warburton, of course, managed Rangers between 2015 and 2017 and won the Scottish Championship title as well as the Scottish Challenge Cup during his time in charge.

Speaking to the club’s official website, he said: “A lot of Rangers fans have called me up and said they are looking forward to the game and I’m looking forward to going back. It’s going to be really nice.

“Rangers is a magnificent club with a tremendous history and tradition and a level of passion within the fanbase which is hard to comprehend, so I think they’ll looking forward to having one of the big Premier League clubs coming up.

“I hope very much it’s a full house because it will be a great occasion with two big clubs coming together, for sure. It’s pre-season, but it will be two good teams getting ready for the start of their respective seasons and European football, and I am sure both teams will make it a very worthwhile evening.”
