West Ham United midfielder James Ward-Prowse is on the verge of completing a loan move to Nottingham Forest. The England international has just undergone a medical and is finalising the terms of the deal.
Unlike Hammers team-mate Kurts Zouma, JWP was never in danger of failing a medical and he has already agreed to the switch before heading to Nottingham this afternoon.
West Ham United’s decision to loan James Ward-Prowse to Nottingham Forest is a pragmatic move to free up funds for other transfer targets. The midfielder has struggled for playing time and is open to a loan move to gain regular minutes.
As reported earlier, the writing was always on the wall for Ward Prowse following his substitution against Bournemouth on Wednesday. The League Cup was a chance for fringe players to impress and claim a regular starting spot but the former Saint struggled in a midfield which was always likely to fail.
From a PSR perspective, getting the midfielder’s wages off of the books for this season at least is a good thing for the Hammers. The last thing they would want after such an exciting transfer window would be to be hit with a point deduction.
As Gonzo points out, the Irons loan of James Ward-Prowse to Nottingham Forest is a strategic move that benefits both clubs.
It’s looking like a final day of good business what with appears to be going through…
Unless of course he has a stellar season for Forsst and helps them to a European place at our expense!!
So prowsey to Forest, cornet to Southampton, aguerd to real sociedad all on loan. Are we likely to see any of them play for West Ham again?
James Ward Prowse – acquired as a stellar talent by West Ham. Just one season and he is now an extra – a spare part. Shame on us. Fingers crossed that if we can’t do something with Soler, we will welcome JWP back to his place next season.
COYI
Too much of a “light weight” and for a free kick specialist he never scored from one.
I hope he does well for Forest
Why don’t you read what GUARDIOLA thinks of J.W.P.. and perhaps you may change your narrow view
All the best to the fella. Good pro, good player, just not exactly suited to the way the team is setting up
