Warrior defender all set for Irons after farewell party

zabPablo Zabaleta said his last farewells to the Manchester City fans who have handed him cult hero status over his time with the club last night and is now firmly believed to be on his way to the London Stadium.

City gave him  special send off from the Etihad and even Status Quo’s Francis Rossi appeared on the big screen to thank him for being such a huge fan!

And a City insider friend of ClaretandHugh’s revealed this morning: “It is an open secret up here that he will become a Hammer.

He is understood to have agreed the deal which is believed to be in the region of £80k a week given he is a free signing.”

Zabaleta is a real warrior and it was revealed during last night’s farewell that he had received 124 stitches during his 333 games at City.

We were told: “He is believed to have been offered a one year deal by Pep Guardiola but the Argentine international right back didn’t believe he would receive sufficient game time and has decided to move on.”

  1. He has been some player. Also there seems to be agreement that he would be a a strong influence in the dressing room & a good pro generally. The only question is, as with Fonte, can he still cut it?

  2. If he is good enough for Sir Trev he is good enough for me.Hammer64 he is only 32 not 92 LOL

  3. Fair point! I should be the last one being ‘ageist’. I guess players are fitter these days. Some do go into decline suddenly in their thirties though- Rooney comes to mind, although I know the answer will be that he started in the Prem when he was eight or something. Over all I think this would be a good one.

  4. By the way T Man- nothing wrong with being 92! I could still teach these kids a thing or two if I could just remember how to do those laces up on me boots with the metal studs lol.

  5. Sorry Lads, whilst I agree we could do with a stronger influence around the team, a 32 year old Right-Back (no matter how good they’ve been before), is in my humble opinion too old, will cost a fortune in wages, and a step in the wrong direction; we should be building a team around youth and the for the future. Just look at Fonte, and what a mistake that’s turned out to be????

  6. 64 is an ageist T Man,any player over 30 & he wants them shot for sausages 😂
Well for what its worth i would take him all day long.I think he will be a quality addition on a free which will counter his wages.
Talking to a Citeh mate,a proper born & bred Manc he still rates him big time & said he would be a top signing for us.
Who knows,we all have different opinions,i mean i dont think Fonte has been shyte & will still be a good signing 😂😂
