‘We’d Like to Sign Soler’ | But there’s a Catch

More news on the developing situation with Carlos Soler – the Paris St Germain midfielder with whom we have been linked for several days now. Apparently Soler is available at a fee of £17 million and represents an excellent addition. Fabrizio Romano had already flagged up the clubs possible interest in adding him to the squad at London Stadium.

The 27 year old Spanish Midfielder has been linked with a move away from PSG and we have reported several times that West Ham were interested: Following a couple of days of intense rumour and speculation. Claret and Hugh Associate Editor Sean Whetstone made specific enquiries regarding the Hammers’ interest in Soler to a senior club source at West Ham United, seeking confirmation that ‘we want to sign him for £17 million.’

As we suspected, the rumour is true:’ We’d like to ‘  Came the response. And then the second part: ‘But we can’t afford the signing on fee or the wages, we have seriously overspent’.

So it is clear that whilst the Hammers are still eyeing up the best talent in Europe, the financial realities are coming home to roost and without organising player sales, it looks as if the interest in Soler may have to be put on the back burner.

Like everyone else, lifelong WHU fan and season ticket holder in old BMU stand at Upton Park from 2003. Billy Bonds these days with my adult son and impatiently waiting for my Grandson to be old enough to initiate him before his mum grabs him for Man U. All opinions are my own very biased ones.

Understandable that we need to move some out before any more can arrive. Lets hope Tim is as good at moving em on as he is at bringing em in.
/// on a separate matter. I received a message from the club offering me my seat for the Bournemouth game. I went to the site coz Id like to take my son and sit nearer the front but my usual grief with our ticketing site. I cant see that they are on sale, or see a date when they go on sale… with the breakdown of dates for season ticket holders etc. But the site does suggest they are available. Anybody got helpful advice?

I presume they are only on sale to season ticket holders so you can only buy your own for now. So you will have to wait until they go on general sale before you can change seats and buy extra.

Odd thing for a commercial company to say ‘we have seriously overspent’. Has Sean been on the cider again?

Hammerhearted I think atm as a season ticket holder you can only purchase your seat for the cup game up until the deadline on Mon when I assume you will be able to but other seats or seats nearer the front as they will then go on general sale. If you’re actually asking how to navigate our wonderfully unfriendly site then you need to log in click on link me to tickeying and then click on the head in the top right and that should bring your ticket up to purchase matey

The team is already much stronger with no Europa games to contend with. The pros of having a relatively small squad is we can spend more time per player to get ideas across. Let’s give the “deadwood” runouts in the domestic cups and as subs to make them more sellable and revisit Soler in January

No s@@@@ we’ve seriously overspent. We spent 25m on a guy with one goal to his name. I’m all for bringing guys in, and addressing the back line has been awesome, but Soler represents a guy we don’t need and don’t have space for. What did we get Guido in for on a free (good business) if we’re just going to turn around and spent 17m on this guy? None of this makes sense and I think this is probably more of an agent trying to stir up interest based on a passing (at best) interest from West Ham.

S, maybe it’s because J-Lo wants a good depth to the squad so he can rotate the players. Something Moyes couldn’t or wouldn’t do.
