Welcome Return Highlights Real Weakness

West Ham’s visitors on Saturday are struggling with their own injury crisis: Depending on who you believe, four or more players (everton.news.com ) are unavailable for what is just as crucial a game for Everton as it is for the Hammers. Sean Dyche may be next to experience the ‘sack race’ spotlight which did for Erik Ten Hag last weekend.

It displays the absolute paucity of resources in West Ham’s midfield that big headlines are being created from the ‘return’ from illness of Tomas Soucek. We love Tornado Tom for his determination and club loyalty, and he does have a great record against Everton – but a midfield magician he is not.

With Edson Alvarez suspended following last week’s red card, West Ham get to choose from Carlos Soler, Guido Rodriguez, Andy Irving and Lucas Paquetá as mainstream midfielders. So, no wonder Soucek is welcomed back to training in West Ham’s official ‘inside Rush Green’ video on whufc.com. Sadly our summer strengthening added neither creativity nor pace so I’m expecting to see our midfield labouring and chasing backwards after fast-disappearing opposition as become customary in the last few outings.

As discussed a couple of days ago, don’t rule out youngster Lewis Orford becoming an addition to the Hammers’ bench.

It says something when we cast envious eyes back to Nottingham Forest’s Hammer-on-loan loan James Ward Prowse and wish he was still in our squad. At least we’d keep the corners out of our opposition goalkeeper’s reach, too – maybe it is a case of ‘we didn’t appreciate him until he’d gone: Just ignoring for a moment the side- side-back passing which he and Soucek made their own.

From the old Bobby Moore Upper to the Billy Bonds' stand these days I've been watching since '03 and a supporter since about 1970.. 'Football is Life' oh yes. Let it raise your spirit but never darken your mood. Life's too short not to enjoy the journey with our Claret and Blue heroes n' villains.

JWP doesn’t offer much besides free kicks, was the same at Southampton much like Noble runs around a lot but not a lot of end product so organised teams can keep him on the move and play through him.

I really wish you would stop sniping at J.W.P. at every opportunity . if you want a reference of his true ability I suggest you read GUADIOLAS perceptive assessment.

  • Ian the sub says:

but J.W.P. is a midfield magician. but rigid managers and coaches are baffled by the illusions.

Sebastien has a release clause so don’t make the same mistake twice!

Pay it and let Tim sell him the dream & return on a private jet 🛩️

We can’t keep missing out to bigger clubs like we did with Amorin. Kudus will be sold for a massive profit and PSR is over a 3 year period. After selling Rice for £100m, NOW is the time to save our season!

Sebastien Hoenes is the type of progressive coach that can transform our season and help us achieve our ambitions.

I think he would work well with Tim and play the brand of football we desperately wanted after Moyes and now with JLo!

If we act after the Everton game we still have a chance before it’s too late this season.

I hope you are reading this Sully – take a 👀 at this…

Martin forget JWP, we need to look forwards not backwards. Read the weblink I attached and let me know 🫵 thoughts please 🙏

Tim will know him well and I’d be surprised if he hadn’t recommended him to Sully prior to us getting JLo.

Alonso is well out of our reach, we missed the boat with Amorin……but this guy is still a real possibility.
