Manchester United is bracing themselves for a significant financial hit on right-back Aaron Wan-Bissaka, as West Ham nears the completion of discussions to acquire the out of favour player. Wan-Bissaka, who joined from Crystal Palace for £50 million, has seen his value drop sharply, and his appearances at Old Trafford have been sporadic at best.

With only one year remaining on his contract, the Red Devils are looking to recoup between £15-20 million for him—a stark contrast to their initial investment. Negotiations between West Ham and Manchester United are reportedly close to finalising a fee, although Wan-Bissaka’s high wages most certainly pose a huge obstacle.

Just yesterday, a senior West Ham official told Claret & Hugh that Wan-Bissaka’s salary demands were exceedingly high, potentially derailing the transfer. However, that has not deterred the Hammers who are looking for ‘creative’ ways to complete the transfer to the satisfaction of all parties.

One thing which does go in his favour is the fact that the defenders asking price is lower than what Southampton has set for their full-back Kyle Walker-Peters. West Ham still retain an interest in the Saints player and he is reportedly eager to move to East London.

Would be a good signing we have massively downsized squad wise we should he able to sort his wages unless he is royally taking the piss…
He is a good tackler but not great going forward…suits a back 4 formation but can be used as a right sided back 3 …
makes sense why he wants him so he can switch formations …
Still limited in a right wing back position though so food for thought …
