Borussia Dortmund have been left flabbergasted by the speed at which West Ham have negotiated a deal for striker Niclas Füllkrug. Despite signing former Hammers target Serhou Guirassy from Bundesliga rivals VfB Stuttgart on a four-year deal, the Champions League finalists had intended on keeping Füllkrug.

However, Dortmund’s Director of Football, Sebastian Kehl, says they’ve been shocked by the speed of negotiations with West Ham for Füllkrug. Not only that, but the club was seemingly unprepared for the money offered as part of the transfer onslaught the German media are calling a ‘raid’.

Kehl: “The events of the last few days have been a bit out of control. It was not our intention to sell Niclas.”

The German international striker has flown to England today to complete his Hammers medical ahead of signing for the club.

A top club source revealed to Claret & Hugh this morning, “We expect to sign three players before Monday.” While it’s never certain, it’s safe to assume that Füllkrug will be one of the three mentioned.

  • Paul lewis says:

Gonzo, I think this is going to be a massive signing for us, especially with Bowen, Summerville and kudus whipping crosses in for him, and paqueta threading through balls inside opposing defences for his runs.

  • Chris says:

    Peter Withe vibes anyone?

  • Tim says:

    Defo !

  • Kram says:

I was saying to let Timmy do his thing and have faith. now, 3 imminent signings and hopefully AWB next week. which would leave just a RCB to get in hopefully before Villa. Well excited for the season as we will be a nasty team to go up against. COYI

    • Terry says:

      Keep the faith

    • Jacko says:

Hope he turns out to be a good player and scores the goals and lots of them BUT the price we are paying I think we’ve had our trousers pulled down on this one seeing as Dortmund signed Serhou Guirassy for less than £20m and he’s a much better striker and younger.

  • Kip says:

I’m 50/50 at min with him.

Of course definitely a good player..but I’ve only seen him score in the box ….obviously alot better ..but like ings ..I’ve not watched alot of him and he was In the Euroes and did well ….is there more to him than poacher in the box ..can anyone give me there take on him ..?

    • Mogg says:

I think a fox in the box fits lopetaguis system . The wingers and full backs to cross it in to the box where the striker will always be

      • Kip says:

Yeah 100% something we didn’t have last year..with bowen kudus and paq ..this lad could get some good service and a few goals ..plus let’s hope the brazilian kid hits the ground running tpo

    • Barney says:

Better in the air than Ings, bullies defenders better than Ings.
Unfortunately I am getting Cart Carthorse vibes… So hope I’m wrong

      • kriskringle says:

You couldn’t be more wrong. Technically extremely skillful, he is German after all, and don’t confuse power and strength with being a carthorse.

        • West Ham Tel says:

Appreciate that Kris but Werner and Havertz haven’t exactly set the Premier league alight have they?
I personally like Fullkrug and hope he is the striker we need ⚒️

          • Joshla says:

Will be good to see him in the prem but think he may be a bit to good for WHU time will tell

    • kriskringle says:

I’m a Germany fan and he’s got a lot more about him than English fans will know. Late developer you could say due to knee ligaments injuries, and scored 13 goals in 21 matches for Germany. Go on the DFB Instagram and watch his skills.

  • Foxy says:

He’s not just a fox in the box. From what I’ve heard he has an all round game and he can drop deep to link up play. Hes nothing like Ings since he doesn’t run around like an old headless granny with a groin strain.

  • deathblow says:

The shock is shock of joy.

Do not try to spin this as they didn’t want to do it. I know Dortmund well and they’ll be absolutely rubbing their hands with glee over this.

They are a selling club and this bit of business for them is fantastic, as was getting Guirassy for such a cheap transfer fee albeit hideous wages and add-ons.

Works well for them and for us. They know Steidten well and how he operates, so don’t try and fool our gullible fans.

Nice to see a German club not having their pants pulled down by a club from the money-whore EPL.

Well done BVB. Fingers crossed for us this goes through.

    • Kip says:

I did think paying 27 fir a 30 year old was to strong..should of payed the extra and got Duran …..potentially and sell on value

      • deathblow says:

And the potential for being a flash in the pan, full of himself and prone to tantrums.
Why would Villa sell a top prospect, and to us?
He’s too much of a risk with that temperament. JLo is not the type to have a trouble-maker in the dressing room. He won’t tolerate Antonio’s sulking either.

      • Charlie Farley says:

Duran might yet still sign for West Ham. This German fella isn’t a replacement.

      • Kev Williams says:

We don’t need potential. We need proven.

Duran looks like he might come good, but you can’t depend on “might”!
I’d still try go for him… but as a back up option to Fullkrug

    • Joshla says:

It’s the rest of the the world that competes for prem tv writes just accepting the highest bids for the best football. So I will call the rest of the world football whores, thank you very much!

  • Billy says:

The most interesting thing about the incredible Fulk is of course that his nickname in German is “Lucke” which means gappy since he has a gap in his teeth. Ironically, in a training ground accident he once ended up in hospital with a teammates tooth stuck in the top of his head. Not so lucky when it comes to teeth then.

  • elduder says:

there is a clear patten under tim, people don’t want to see it, want to pretend we play games

yet, looking objectively at this window the pattern is crystal clear

tim has his list of targets which he systematically works through, he has a hard limit on value, a final bid is made at that level and if it’s rejected the pursuit ends and with laser focus the next target is approached

there is no duran just like there is no bruno, wesley, samu, etc those targets have been crossed off, the only way we’d entertain any of those targets again is if the club come back with reduced/acceptable demands

this is how a professional club is run – long may it continue

  • michael cash says:

The bonus is that greed Villa get to keep the player who will be disruptive at best.
By January we could get him for £20M

  • michael cash says:

Could get Duran for £20M in the January transfer window.
Villa tried to have us over and failed

  • Tom says:

Paying £27 million for a 32 year old doesn’t look like great business, when he cost only 12.7 million last August.
Dortmund just bought a center forward, so looks good for them

    • Novk says:

What you have to remember we’re not in Europe next season so it’s more difficult to attract top players so let’s hope the deals done get us back where we belong

  • John Ayris says:

Decent. An improvement on what we’ve had for a while.

  • 60sSupporter says:

Good to see intelligent discussion and give & take on here.

Next time you use the claretandhugh line ‘mind the Lücke’.

  • Wayne says:

Will be a cracking signing for us.

We need another striker for sure but so glad we aren’t buying more African players because of their commitments in the winter.
