We’re walking in a West Ham Wonder Land

It was one of those classic television moments – when Del Boy and Rodney climbed back into their clapped-out yellow three-wheeler after selling that watch and finally becoming “millionaires”.

“Alright?” Rodney asked of his big brother. “Well,” said Del, “I’ve had worse days!”

I imagine David Moyes may have been thinking something similar in a quiet moment – if indeed he could find one – after last night’s momentous achievement!

The ‘Moyseiah” as some have taken to calling him has transformed this football club of ours in the last two years, and consequently deserves ever last ounce of the credit that is now flooding his way.

Of course he hasn’t achieved it alone – he would be the first to admit that.

The players out there on the pitch at the Groupama Stadium last night, and those for whatever reason not able to play their part in that remarkable victory over Lyon.

But they have all contributed in their own way to the mission and vision of a boss they clearly admire and totally respect – all deserve to share in the credit

It has been a complete team effort – manager, players and backroom staff – that has taken us from a team and a club frequently the butt of ridicule, most recently under the stewardship of free-spending Manuel Pelligrini – but before that under a succession of managers who promised little and in reality achieved even less – to where we find ourselves on this brilliant, sunlit day!

There will no doubt still be those who readily point to the fact we haven’t actually won anything yet under David Moyes.

Some may well be reluctant to give up on  the ‘Dithering Dave’ tag – continue to question his lack of activity in the transfer market and point to what they claim is a woefully thin squad.

Everyone is entitled to an opinion of course. But I’ll wager at this point in time the vast majority won’t be in any mood to give any time whatsoever to those kind of comments and views. Neither should they be.

Right now we’re all walking in a West Ham Wonder Land – and leading us there, as the song goes, is one “Super David Moyes”.
