Predictably, the second half was a little more open, chances few and far between with errors and misplaced passing advertising this as two very ordinary teams both fighting for form. A triple change announced for the Hammers at 63 minutes and I wondered what the resources about to enter the fray would be to try and lift our performance: Danny Ings, Carlos Soler and Vlad Coufal entering in place of Antonio, Rodriguez and – Wan Bissaka. The stadium almost stirred into a response. But not quite.
This could be a classic Danny Ings’ 89th minute shinned goal to win it. It has the hallmarks of that kind of game. the substitutes have a look of little impact but at least Summerville and Bowen are both still on the pitch unlike last week. Pretty dire fare, to be honest.
And then one moment, a through ball from Paqueta, Summerville runs on and – hits the post. That was the first moment of quality after about 74 minutes. shame.
Ings almost followed my script with a shot on 86 minutes well saved by Pickford. Finally something had happened to raise a round of applause from the fast-emptying stadium. Four minutes of added-on time – I feel sorry for those watching at the ground, knowing what they’ve put up with, £6 beer, £8 sausages, walking traffic lights, queues and trains at Stratford Station – to watch ‘that’.
Right at the death, Ings hits a shot, deflected and another great save from Pickford to keep Everton’s point secure. The whistle blows, boos ring out. Probably that’s the first impression at the final whistle – Pickford kept Everton in it with those two late saves.
I’ll be back in an hour or so with a full match summary once I’ve deciphered my notes and fully roused myself from this dreary torpor.
Gonzo is away this week so just for once there’ll be no player ratings although of course I’ll be giving you my thoughts later. If I were doing it, everyone would get a ‘4’.
And so this is what the team looks like without Mo Kudus. Summerville at times can contribute some surprise or even the unexpected, but everyone else seems pretty predictable in their decision making. A bit more passion on the pitch might also help getting better results. On the bright side, a welcome clean sheet.
Changing managers won’t make the Geri-squad younger. They are old, slow and uninspiring. Every match looks like they are desk jockeys all week and getting together for a Saturday pick-up at the local pitch.
Survive and regroup.
Maybe things ain’t as bad as 1st seemed, well we gained ground on man city. 😂😂😂
I would like to thank claret and blue and the moaning section of our fans for bringing this all upon us .
You were all warned be careful when you replace your most successful manager ever but with ideas above the clubs capabilities you insisted , is this the west ham way you all spoke of .
when will you Moysie whiners realise that wanting an escape from the turgid an uninventive nature of our last manager didn’t mean what we’d be happy with just anyone? it was all made pretty clear what the fans wanted to see for their huge chunk of pay packet. what we were given was definiteley not this dross. it’s at this point that you should probably join the long list of commenters on here who seem to do nothing more than spit bile about Sully and his pathetic attempts to appease us all with a bargain bin plastic knock-off of what we should have. whatever situation we are, or could be, in right now is still no reason to want to go back to what we had. i’d hate to be an ex of yours…probably a bit stalky, methinks
I saw a comment saying dreadful, well I’m sorry to say we weren’t even that good in fact to coin a phrase we were dire, this team has no identity, no guts a lck of intensity and movement and a clueless manager who 100% has lost the dressing room and when that happens so does relegation. This manager is an absolute clown and has to be sacked immediately no excuses. As a hammers supporter for over 60 years this is the worst team I’ve ever seen and that’s all down to the board and the manager full stop. We need a midfield General to captain the team someone dynamic with passion, someone to kick the other players arses into gear and definitely need a quality striker like Duran and a goalkeeper, players playing in their right positions, in terms of football I have no managerial experience as such but even I would have signed better quality younger more dynamic players and would have us in the top six. Lopetugui your the most clueless manager in the history of football so f**k off.
Everyone is criticising Lopetegui like they expect him to know what he is doing. He doesn’t, he has shown you all how bad he is over 11 PL games. He is a fraud and it is not going to get better until he is gone. Stop attending home games, that will get Sullivans attention.
So Gonzo the get Moyes out mastro is unavailable at this time!
How convenient!
He said JLo was our pep with top 4 entertaining football!
Wow!
We are in a relegation fight!
Be careful for u what u wish for Gonzo!
#Gutted
I agree with Gav! Careful what you wish for, Gonzo, you led the chorus of disapproval for Moyes, our most successful manager for 30 years!!
The last 19 games he was as bad as Lopetegui, he had to go. The mistake was hiring Lopetegui, not getting rid of Moyes.
100% moyes was just as bad and had to go as well
Same as this idiot….you.will get some pro moyes people forget what it was like at the end …they should go and look.at the last 20 games under moyes …****s don’t like to mention that
Sack him and send steidman with him. Both a pair of *****
Bring in the man who killed Voldemort. COYI
I’d like to see Tim stay and work with a manager that is on the same page. JLo got his way with Kilman and still think Rodriguez & Soler are his choices too!
Dreadful stuff. Everton were dreadful too. I do not see anything changing and still say sack him asap, now is the ideal time.
🅿️4️⃣5️⃣ 👋
We will have months of this drivel now …you could go on and on..but basically he has no clue Imo and most players are putting in 50% work rate and literally no desire…you can see they don’t like him already…THIS WONT GET BETTER…it’s plain to see …first 43 min not one attempt on goal at home to Everton…not on target ATTEMPT…!!!!!!! now if that doesn’t say enough then we are f@@..
We have not just gone backwards we have gone literally back to step one …AWFUL JUST F@@@@@AWFUL
Not good enough . Sullivan needs to realise Lopetegui is useless. He needs to man up and sack him . Fed up with this dross !
I’m at a loss as to what JLo does in the week during training sessions 🤷♂️
It’s impossible to see how he has implemented any game plan. Players seem as frustrated with JLo as I am.
Everton look a poor team, but we couldn’t beat them which says more about us than it does them.
Well with the 2.5 hours travel each way and that bilge I had to watch, that’s about 6 hours of my life I won’t get back. Absolutely awful!
My seat is reasonably close to the action and you can see the body language of the players that there are serious problems. I have to join the chorus of needing the manager removed, even though I don’t think changing managers all the time is a good idea. This is beyond bad!
It’s the slow starts that I find increasingly worrying, not to mention the poor tactics and no real show of improvement. I was in the camp of give the guy some time, as it takes time to bed so many new players and a new style in. The lack of any sign of improvement and the awful starts to every match which says a lot of things are wrong.
The only person with any real appetite appears to be Summerville. I suspect that’s more about sticking it to the manager rather than playing for him.
There just doesn’t seem to be any joy at the LS these days. The fun has been sucked out of everyone.
Summerville proved today what we already knew but has taken JLo 11 games to discover.
It’s obvious JLo has no respect from the players and who can blame them. There has been absolutely no improvement, cohesion or signs that he is worthy of being our manager.
Surely, given his “pedigree” Lopetegui can’t be this bad!? I may be over simplifying things but is a huge part of the problem his poor English? Quite honestly I can barely understand a word he says. If the players have the same problem then it’s hardly surprising they can’t implement his tactics (assuming he has some!)
I have been saying that since his first interview john. I thought it might be my hearing but I now know it’s not but did nobody on the interview panel think that this might be a problem.
Interview panel 🤣🤣🤣
Tim “let’s hire Amorin or Hoeness”
Sully “I’m not paying release clauses”
Will Salthouse “I can get you JLo cheap”
Sully “Fantastic, let’s appoint him to wind up Tim and the fans”
Brady “You’re always right Dave”
😂😂😂
i can understand everything that he is saying – don’t worry, you’re not missing anything because what he says is always NOTHING!
I’m sure some of our youth players would play with more heart than some in our team today. Bowen is not a captain it has to change. Its affecting his performance. But more important we need a change of manager and fast.
If there remains anyone who believes there isn’t a manager who could use these players to gain a better performance and result than the current incumbent, good luck to you.
The players aren’t playing for him. He appears to have demotivated even the likes of Bowen……that takes some doing.
No spirit, no passion, no cohesion, no plan….no idea.
Get him out before things get worse on all fronts.
☝️Sully 🤦♂️
