West Ham 0 Luton 1 – First Half

A fabulous end of term atmosphere at a sun-drenched London Stadium saw David Moyes’s final home game in charge of the Hammers.

This happy atmosphere lasted about 7 minutes when Luton went 1 -0 up

It was far too easy, as it has been so often this season. Barkley found Adebayo. His shot was blocked, but the ball broke out left to Doughty. He crossed and Lokonga simply ran off his man, beat the static Zouma and planted a header into the bottom left-hand corner.

Then Luton were caught out at the back, allowing the dangerous Kudus a sight at goal – but the forward, from a tight angle, dragged his effort wide of the far post.

The Irons were slowly clicking into gear and Emerson and Paqueta combined down the left. The latter crossed to the near post, where Bowen raced in and his well-struck volley clipped the outside of the woodwork.

West Ham again went close when Emerson burst clear down the left, but his inviting low ball across the six-yard box somehow evaded everyone in the middle.

Again another chance for the Irons, Kudus initially did well to work himself some space on the right edge of the area, only to then blaze his effort high over the bar.

We have had tenĀ  goal attempts today, but zero on target, and Thomas Kaminski has not had to make a save. At the other end, Luton have had three attempts, one on target and that ended up in Alphonse Areola’s net.

A lot of huffing and puffing from the Irons but sadly no end product. It must be said that at the peak of the David Moyes era, West Ham were clinical in attack and defence. At present, the Irons are neither!

Let’s hope for a better second half.

Time to park the bus now, David Moyes? Or maybe take the bus home for an early night.
