Fabianski:6 Not a lot he could have done to stop Gakpo’s excellent strike. Made a point blank save on 66 mins.

Coufal:7 His robust challenge on Jota upset Liverpool’s early momentum. His job got significantly more difficult with the introduction of Diaz.

Zouma:6 Mix-up with Coufal didn’t prove costly as Jota fired over. Won numerous headers but gave the ball away cheaply at times.

Aguerd:8 Impressively matched Salah for pace and made an important block early on. Blocked Salah again om 57 mins.

Cresswell:6 Would have been pleased to see Alexander Arnold deployed centrally.

Rice:8 Some classy moments from Declan Rice who was the best midfielder on the pitch. Crucial takle to thwart a Liverpool counter on 54 mins. Excellent pass for Cornet with 10 mins remaining.

Soucek:6 Set up a West Ham attack with an excellent header. Played most of the game sat in front of the back 4 but made some important tackles.

Paqueta:7 Scored a goal of the season contender after 13 mins to put West Ham ahead. Wonderful pass for Bowen’s offside goal.

Bowen:6 Fluffed his lines early in the game with a poor cross with Antonio free in front of goal. Battled hard and had a goal ruled out by VAR. Not massively involved.

Benrahma:6 Frustratingly indecisive when through on goal after 8 mins. Benrahma really should have done better given the lack of a Liverpool right back. Fat too much stop and start when direct running is required. Had some good moments but no end product.

Antonio:6 Played a crucial role in Paqueta’s opener. Displayed the worst of his game just before half time when he failed to pick out Benrahma who was through on goal then headed wide from a corner.

Ings: 69 min replacement for the tiring Antonio. Both subs lacked the physicality to trouble the Liverpool defence.

Cornet: 69th min sub for Benrahma
