West Ham 2-1 Wolves

Fabianski:6 Very little to do in the first half as West Ham dominated possession.

Wan Bissaka:7 Amazing how advanced he was early in game. Played very well until Wolves equaliser when he was left isolated. My favourite summer signing.

Mavropanos:8 Early interception thwarted Strand Larson and covered Kilman well on 15 mins. Blazed over from six yards following a succession of corners. Justified his selection.

Kilman:6 Forced a corner with a header after joining the attack from open play.

West Ham 2-1 Wolves: Former Wolves captain didn’t have too much to do.

Emerson:5 Got a yellow card in the first half which will rule him out of the Premier League game against Bournemouth. Not his best game.

Alvarez:6 Dangerously caught in possession early in the second half.

Soucek:7 Uninvolved until he scored with a looping header from the back post following Bowen’s in-swinging corner. Gave everything.

Soler:7 Had a good shot well blocked following an amazing chipped pass from Summerville. Played some neat passes but picked up a silly booking. Justified his start ahead of Paqueta.

Kudus:6 His bending shot was forced wide by Johnston. Got the ball in the back of the net twice but the goals were ruled out for offside.

Summerville:7 Incredibly sharp and fast, the Dutchman produced some wonderful dribbles. Constantly hacked down and targeted. Drew three cards in Wolves players who systematically fouled him.

Bowen:9 Top class. Forced a save in the 22nd minute with a low shot. Did well as a makeshift striker but certainly not his best position. Great corner for Soucek’s opener. Scored a wonderful goal in the 71st minute as he cut in from the right hand side and curled a delicious left foot shot into the bottom of the Wolves net to make it 2-1.

Substitutes

Paqueta:5 On for Soler in the 63rd minute. Usual tricks and flicks on display

Ings:6 72nd min sub for the excellent Summerville. His neat backheel deserved an assist.

Todibo: Part of a triple substitution in the 86th min for Kudus

Cresswell: Subbed for Emerson as Lopetegui looked to ensure victory and his own job.

Rodriguez: on for Alvarez

Summerville was a 9 in my book, with his speed and dribbling ability a constant threat.
How Ings got 6 is beyond me. I’m afraid hes no more a premiership player being easily knocked off the ball and slow
Contributed nothing when he came on

good from Mav apart from his tendency to jump onto the back of an opponent in the box. twice now he’s been lucky.

we dominated most of the midfield and Soucek was quietly part of that. he actually did play some decent offensive passes, even a lovely flick. i’ve said this numerous times and will keep saying it: he only scores important goals.

get good points out of the next 3 and we’re def in the mix. forget the 2 after that. still not convinced, though

ffs we won we are mid table let’s try and look forward. COYI

Still 14th place, but keeping a distance with Everton, Leicester City and Crystal Palace.
Good enough for Lopetegui to keep his job? Good performances by WBK and Mavropanos. Might have been a good opportunity to see Fullkrug.

    • Andy says:

Game was crying out for Fullkrug with so many corners and crosses in to the area, especially after scoring against Leicester.

I didn’t see anything that would impress me in the game against wolves tonight to say JLo
Has turned things around wolves were poor it’s not surprising that they look like a relegated team we are keeping our heads just above water we won the game and it’s good get the 3points but the manor of play was poor had it been a team from the middle of the league we would have lost that game the 3points will hopefully inspire the team whatever the outcome concerning JLo

Wolves do look a Championship team with no real quality players apart from Cunha who gets very little service.

Getting a much needed 3 points against them gives a bit of breathing space but still not convinced at the moment.

And so this circus drags on…we will lose the nxt one or 2 games then back to ultimatum again it is ….we played an awful team tonight imo and just scraped by …nothing has changed at all.

  • John Ayris says:

Important three points. A win. No fiascos. But this was Wolves and it had a bottom of the table look about it.

    • Gonzo says:

      I agree John

      • Matt says:

Summerville my fave signing. Quick feet, great ball to Soler to get him in behind, electric pace and very direct

    • John says:

Strange Ings came on rather than Fullkrug with us crossing so many balls in to the box and corners 🤷‍♂️

      • Kip says:

Yeah because the blokes a fool ..what about the 25 million Brazilian wonderkid.. apparently not good enough but we have not seen him play once for us …what do Brazil.know hey 🙄ffs …least sullivan can hold on to his money longer now …no compensation..just mire ****e football
