West Ham 4-1 Ipswich Town

Areola:6 Terrible for Delap’s goal which should have been bread & butter. Not an awful lot to do thereafter until the 64h min when he made a world class reaction save to deny Delap.

Wan Bissaka:7 Enjoyed a decent game and one of many players to have a shot on goal as West Ham launched countless attacks.

Todibo:8 Looks to be forming a decent partnership with Kilman. Made a great solo run out of defence.

Kilman:7 Steady Eddy Kilman is becoming the Hammers most consistent performers. Not hugely tested by the Ipswich attack.

Emerson:7 Made his most telling contribution to the season with a cross which led to the Irons second goal.

Rodriguez:6 Surprisingly selected ahead of Alvarez. Displayed a decent range of passing and positioned himself well. Turned inside out by Clarke but generally didn’t get isolated.

Soucek:6 I’m not sure how much distance he covered but seemed to be everywhere. Will be disappointed not to have scored with a good chance.

Paqueta:7 The best and worst of Paqueta in this game. Whilst his creativity seemed to return, he was culpable for Ipswich’s equaliser. Thought he would be substituted with injury in the first half but remained involved and scored West Ham’s 4th with a tap-in.

Bowen:10 Created the first goal, scored the third then set up the Hammers 4th with an excellent run. Looked lively throughout and sent a message to Lee Carsley. Excellent.

Kudus:8 Great anticipation for his goal and generally looked considerably better as did most of the team. Forced a world class save to deny him a second.

Antonio:8 Incredible performance, scored the first, created the second and forced the error for West Ham’s third. In full menace mode.

West Ham 4-1 Ipswich Town: Kudus scored West Ham’s second

Substitutes

Soler: On for Antonio in the 70th min and had a wild shot well over.

Alvarez: Replaced Rodriguez and kept things ticking over.

Summerville: Replaced Paqueta late on. Exciting solo run ended in a limp finish.

Cresswell: 82nd min sub for Emerson

Guilherme: On for Kudus in the 85th min and won a freekick.

Hammers Chat my first game was West Ham 10-0 Bury . . . seriously!
We than went and bought Bury's central defender 😬⚒️ Irons

Started Hammers Chat alongside my partner in crime Geo back in 2014 and brough in to Claret & Hugh by my old mate Hughie to produce videos a couple of years later.

Give West Ham opinions on Sky Sports News and even did a bit of moonlighting on BBC Football Focus.

Sometimes feature on BBC Radio 5 Live and once ate a biscuit in Tony Gales shed.

Connoisseur of salted caramel doughnuts and I love a Sloppy Giuseppe pizza although I'm slightly suspicious where the name came from.

When I'm not moaning about West Ham I can be found walking a dog that looks like a sheep and tinkering with pinball machines.

More West Ham moaning is done on a daily basis here 👇👇

The players did better today and got a good result. I don’t know what Lopetegui did that warrants a round of applause so I will hold off on that until the end of next month. There is something about this guy that just doesn’t sit right, and I do not see him being a long-term answer. If we have 19 points or more after the game with Arsenal, I might (reluctantly) have to change my view.

    Good result.
Perhaps it’s starting to come together.
When Antonio went off Kudus should have moved to middle and Summerville brought on at left wing.
Big discrepancy in performance as some pundits give Bissaka 3/10.

Well, well, well, I have to say the boss earned his paycheck today! Brilliant formation and tactics. Excellent execution by the lads! Now, let us stack up these types of performances by all and I dare say, Lopetegui MUST STAY!!!😁

I thought that when Areola arrived his distribution was a big improvement on that of Fabianski, but today at times it was awful.

I would think that next summer we will be looking for a new No1.

That’s more like it. And it opens room for a reasonable hope that there will be further improvement. Many players did very well, and rankings will name the best, but the most fun to watch: Kudus.

Comfortable win, could have been more. Another result that’s been in line with the quality of the opposition.

Looking at the table as it stands now…

    We’ve beaten 17th and 18th.

    Drawn with 6th and 9th.

    And lost to 2nd 4th and 5th,
