West Ham and reported Saudi offers

Saudi raid on Zouma and Aguerd. We can laugh that off!

West Ham have received no offers from, Saudi Arabia for either Nayef Aguerd or captain Kurt Zouma and to be honest that should surprise nobody other than the most gullible writes Hughie Southon.

West Ham and reported Saudi offers

The reality is no player of any consequence has – or would want – to switch the best league in the world for some operation which is struggling to get off the ground in the middle east despite the regular rumours surrounding such a move.

It’s a very decent development for media sites with no contacts or sources, who can dream stories up about Tom Dick or Harry being off from whatever club they are involved in with little fear of anyone being able to contradict them.

Zouma – anyway – has around 15 months left on his deal and despite his knee problems keeping him from playing two games a week, will be given time before the club make a decision on his future.

Our main contact told us exclusively this afternoon that there was no necessity to make a decision at this point.  Aguerd remains a tricky one to weigh up. He is excellent at his best but at worst a genuine liability although one can see clubs coming for him this winter or in the summer.

The pair will certainly be around for a while but in the meantime our source in discussing the Saudi chit chat which is emerging with monotonous regularity told Claret and Hugh exclusively’ “Nothing has come from any of it although  West Ham being offered OTT fees for one of two of ours!”

Its fine being linked with a number of player exits as long as there are squad players but what does worry me is the volume of average players we are being linked too. I am not worried as long as Tim is leading the recruitment but we must focus on a small number of quality signings not a quantity of average signings..A max of 3 quality signings is all we need even 1 or 2 is sufficent but for me a min of 2 is required, a player who can play CB and cover at LB and a LW.
