West Ham United‘s quest for a prolific striker has intensified with London rivals Tottenham Hotspur reportedly joining the race for Brentford’s Ivan Toney.

The Hammers have long sought a reliable goalscorer to complement Michail Antonio, whose fitness issues and lack of a consistent backup have hampered their attack.

Brentford’s Ivan Toney, with his Premier League experience and proven goal threat, has emerged again as a top target for West Ham. The Hammers seem to have the financial resources to compete for his signature.

Former Tottenham goalkeeper Paul Robinson in an interview with SpursHQ believes that the Spuds have the upper hand due to their European qualification and potential to convince Toney of their ambition.

Tottenham are seen as a “bigger” club than West Ham but in recent years it’s become more and more confusing at to why.

Toney’s final destination remains unclear. While Tottenham’s European qualification might be a factor, West Ham offers a potential counterpoint with their recent European success.

Both West Ham and Tottenham are vying for Toney’s signature. The coming days will be crucial as the clubs present their offers in hopes of convincing Toney that their project best aligns with his ambitions.

We won’t be battling for his signature cos we aint got the funds, we need at least 6 new signings, and from the reported £100m transfer kitty we have that wouldn’t leave much. I doubt if the spuds could afford him either. Just more made up rubbish to fill 10 minutes of a journalists boring day
