The race to sign a top-class striker heats up as both West Ham and Tottenham Hotspur set their sights on Mexican hitman Santiago Gimenez.
Incoming West Ham boss Julen Lopetegui desperately needs a striker, and Gimenez fits the bill perfectly. The 25-year-old Feyenoord forward has enjoyed a prolific season with 23 goals and 6 assists in the Eredivisie. His strength, aerial ability, and finishing prowess make him a perfect match for the Premier League.
While West Ham have been linked to Gimenez for months, Tottenham Hotspur has emerged as a serious competitor. Reports suggest Spurs are prioritising talks to sign the Mexican international, potentially putting them in the driver’s seat.
Losing out on Gimenez would be a significant setback for West Ham. He’s seen as the ideal striker to elevate the team to the next level. Feyenoord is expected to demand around £52 million for their star player, and Tottenham seems prepared to make a strong push for his signature.
West Ham might have an advantage with manager Julen Lopetegui potentially wielding influence. However, Tottenham’s financial muscle and potential for European football next season could be persuasive factors for Gimenez.
The coming weeks will reveal which London club wins the race for Gimenez. This transfer saga promises to be a closely watched battle with significant implications for both West Ham and Tottenham’s aspirations for the upcoming season.
He is good… but £52m worth of good?
Hope you are right Stuart. I haven’t seen anything of him so can’t comment. But my only word of caution would be that the Dutch league has thrown up many players who were prolific in Holland but trash over here.
I’m thinking , Kerman, Van de Beak, Memphis Depay and dare I say Marco Boogers
Hopefully this guy can buck the trend if we get him.
Get agent Alvarez on the job for Santiago gimenez, the lads got all round game good with both feet ,good in the air strong made for the premier league ⚒⚒⚒
