Every time I read a report or hear a rumour that Marcus Rashford could join West Ham on loan for the remainder of the season, there’s always a wave of rejection. Comments like “No, move on,” “We can do better,” or “He has a bad attitude” dominate the discussion.
West Ham are in a dire situation with a massive injury crisis affecting our forward line. Michail Antonio and Niklas Füllkrug are both sidelined, likely for the rest of the season. Meanwhile, stand-in striker Jarrod Bowen won’t be available until next month. In such a precarious position, we can’t afford to be picky just because a potential striker isn’t perfect.
The name Evan Ferguson keeps cropping up, but Brighton are unwilling to do business until the end of the transfer window. By then, West Ham could be in even more trouble. Besides, Ferguson is currently injured, and the last thing the Hammers need is another player who can’t hit the ground running.
Whoever we sign in this transfer window needs to be ready to play immediately. Marcus Rashford may not be everyone’s cup of tea, and it’s no secret he’s had his share of problems. Under normal circumstances, I wouldn’t advocate signing him, especially given stories about his disruptive behaviour.
However, short-term problems sometimes require short-term solutions. If West Ham can secure Rashford on loan for the rest of the season, and he solves our immediate striker problem, then why not? Desperate times call for bold decisions.
Yes we are we don’t need has beens
Categorically not.
Rashford in London…….join the dots.
As a left winger if anything, which is a position we need, however, Marcus Rashford brings with him the whole overpaid diva media circus with him. Potter will have to face Rashford questions every press conference. Why is he filling? Why is he underperforming? Why doesn’t he train well or get on with his team mates? I don’t think he needs that and I don’t think we need it.
Why is he sulking (not filling)
“If West Ham can secure Rashford on loan for the rest of the season, and he solves our immediate striker problem, then why not?”
Considering both his wages and the fact he’s repeatedly said publicly that he struggles in a centre forward/striker role and doesn’t like playing there then those are some remarkably valid reasons for the “not” getting the nod.
Maybe he could be Lingard 2.0 but I highly doubt it.
I’m sure Potter will decide who he does / doesn’t want. If Sullivan tries to play his Football Manager games with him, think he’ll get a polite rebuke !
Should have got Delap, but much smaller clubs than us seem to identify good players and get deals over the line while we sign over the hill / injury prone waste of spacers.
Hoping the Potter regime going to change that – oh, no chance with Rashford.
Zero chance this would happen and thank god it won’t. His attitude stinks
Agree with dark horse no chance pure delusion
Generally agree except that Rashford isn’t a centre forward though really? He isn’t a winger either and falls somewhere between – is that what we need? We have a few players like that. An actual centre forward is whats required at least for how we were playing pre Potter unless he has different ideas.
Could be a Lingard or could be a Phillips
Personally I think he’d be more a Phillips
I would much rather go for for a loan to buy some in the French league or alike
Wouldn’t want him disrupting the dressing room
I can see a loan to end of season as he’s not getting a game at Man U. What harm can it do?
Rashford…ha.
Sullivan wouldn’t go for him, wages and wot not.
Sulli will opt for some obscure South American or other cheap option.
He is running this club to fill his pockets. We could’ve had Duran but he wasn’t willing to find the extra few mill but had to in the end to rid of Lopetegui.
I’m.not one of them ..if its doable then get on with it ….we need a fking English forward
You are away with the fairies, thinking Rashford would join the Hammers. I would love it to happen, but no chance
