West Ham Battle Rivals for Alternative £30m Liverpool Starlet in Window Swoop

West Ham said to be in the hunt for Liverpool wonderkid Ben Doak – with the 19-year-old winger attracting major interest following a breakout loan spell at Middlesbrough according to the local Merseyside media.

The Scottish flier, who left Celtic to join Liverpool in 2022, dazzled in the Championship last season, notching seven assists and three goals before injury cut his campaign short. Now, with Arne Slot overseeing a squad rebuild at Anfield and Liverpool actively trimming numbers, Doak’s departure could be part of the plan – though not on the cheap.

According to journalist David Lynch, both West Ham and Wolves are vying for the teenager’s signature, with Liverpool holding out for around £30 million. The Reds have already rejected offers from Ipswich and Crystal Palace, and any deal is expected to include a buy-back clause – a tactic they’ve used before with rising stars.

Doak would represent a statement signing for Graham Potter, who is suspected to have had little input on the arrivals of Callum Wilson and Kyle Walker Peters on free transfers. West Ham are pushing for midfielders rather than the attacking flair provided by winger Doak who is seen as a future star with huge potential.

While Wolves are also in the race, financial constraints – coupled with ongoing interest in Fabio Silva from Roma – may limit their ability to compete. Whether West Ham can contest a bidding war is unlikely given the frugal nature of recent transfer business.

Statement signing? The statement that this would show is that West Ham United have lots of money to waste. Sorry, Andy. I think you have this one very wrong.

This statement signing is not going to happen like all others.
Didn’t get Elliot or Morton and this one not even a starter.
They’ve already had a bid of £20m (January) and turned it down.
Whu need to take a leaf out of their book.
Bought for 600k in 2022 and now want £30m that’s proper business.
Sully take heed unlike his barrow boy deals.

Sorry don’t care how good he is, £30 million for someone who hasn’t played for Liverpool first team is a joke; that is business I wouldn’t do when you could get Onyedika plus 1 other for that price, near enough.

  • John says:

Laughing at the paper talk of £20-30m…. sure, he might be worth it. If not for one important fact….. he’s out of contract next summer! The lad will be eyeing a free deal or signing with a foreign club in just 6 months.

Statement Signing is someone we’ve actually heard of not a 19 kid who’s played in the Championship. Just saying!!!
