West Ham board good to its promise

By Hughie Southon

David Sullivan and and the late David Gold took plenty of stick down the years with the worst of it coming when we switched from the spiritual home of Upton Park  to the London Stadium.

They  promised us  European football which was thrown in their faces for season after season until now .

And the club’s largest  shareholder this afternoon told Claret and Hugh: It is now Europe three years in a row with a semi final defeat and final win thrown in!”

Sullivan has plenty of reasons to be proud of that after bringing David Moyes back to the club despite a League season and a League season this time around which left much to be desired.

West Ham's dithering in appointing a director of football may give them a disadvantage signing players.

He and David Gold have been good to the promise they made on deciding to move to the old Olympic Stadium and there won’t be too many calling for the board’s resignation right now.

They have rewarded us with our first major Euro trophy in 58 years and as a result hold every chance of attracting top players to the club this summer. This is a very much a club on the up!

Yes, there have been errors on the recruitment side but errors only become mistakes if they are not corrected and the appointment of a director of football can sort that out.

Claret and Hugh makes no excuse for always being supporters of this board and we congratulate them along with the players and manager today!
