West Ham Board Split as Spending Stalemate Blocks Transfers and Manager Move

Despite the club’s public statements, West Ham are not currently under PSR pressure and could buy players in January if the desire was there. There also appears to be enough wriggle room to pay compensation for a manager such as Marc Silva [if of course he could ever be persuaded to come to East London].

However, for any of that to happen, there would need to be a cash injection from the board – and that is where the problem lies.

David Sullivan has made it clear he will not put any more of his own money into the club, instead to relying on payday-style loans to fund West Ham’s outgoings.

Kretinsky’s is unlikely put any money into West Ham under the current model

The Gold family, meanwhile, are actively trying to sell shares in order to offset the huge financial losses suffered at Ann Summers, meaning they are also unable to commit fresh funds.

Which leaves Daniel Kretinsky. Claret & Hugh has been told the Czech billionaire has no desire to inject cash under the current construct of the football club.

The situation has created an intriguing stalemate behind the scenes: Sullivan and the Golds lack the capital to take West Ham forward, while the one man who does have the means – Kretinsky – is unwilling to spend.

The situation could change should David Sullivan decided to inject some of his personal wealth into the club. Perhaps when Kretinsky see’s similar ambition from his fellow shareholders perhaps he could be persuaded to match them?

Sullivan has been taking the fans for fools ever since he has been at the club

Silva is a mid table manager, if you look at his history he doesn’t qualify for Europe and his teams results are inconsistent he also struggles to get his teams out of a rut. Glasner is also out of contract at the end of the season so if we are going to pay compensation would suggest Glasner is a lot cheaper than the overhyped Silva.

Would prefer Scott Parker if we can’t get Glasner, Nuno or Fonseca as third or fourth choices.

Let’s hope the Qatari rumours are true though have heard it all before and not sure Sullivan would ever deal with Arab owners despite his previous Saudi promises.

Sounds like we might end up being a feeder club for Millwall…..

  • Towers says:

So, how much of sullys own money (not lent ) has he put in, besides the original £50m he put in……
Be interesting to see, what he spent, how much he’s owed in loans etc and the actual value of current shares against his initial ‘investment’
Leave that one to you Gonzo…

I think this is a smoke screen whilst they decide who to bring in from the investors who have come to them over the last few months.

Sullivan as a billionaire, is skint in terms of liquid assets, he has a mediocre portfolio of properties, predominantly in the corporate section however that market is relatively stagnant and could take a while to shift anything to release funds Most of his listed wealth is the ownership of WHUFC which is why we use Klarna to plug the holes in our accounts
