One piece of good West Ham news that has flown slightly under the radar is the return to fitness of striker once hailed as “Celtic’s Wonderkid.”
Daniel Cummings made a big name for himself north of the border, scoring goals at an incredible rate for Celtic’s U21 side. Former Hoops boss Brendan Rodgers was desperate for the young forward to sign a new deal at Celtic Park, but after tasting Champions League football, Cummings wanted assurances of first-team action.
That desire opened the door for West Ham sporting director Mark Noble, who convinced the Scottish striker to move south to East London. With his Celtic contract expired, the Hammers only had to pay a nominal fee to complete the deal in the summer.

Cummings Returns to Action
Unfortunately, Cummings picked up an injury almost immediately after joining, keeping him sidelined until this week. He made a brief late substitute appearance for the U21s against Aston Villa before playing 23 minutes in the EFL Trophy win over Swindon Town.
Fellow Scot Josh Landers may have grabbed most of the attention in Cummings’ absence, but the former Celtic man’s return should not be underestimated. The highly rated youngster was considered one of the best attacking talents in Europe, and if he can regain full fitness, he could provide Nuno Espirito Santo with another much-needed option up front
Whu have a very strong array of academy talent.
Covering all positions and in some cases are spoilt for choice.
Strikers: Marshall, Fearon, Cummings, Earthy, Landers plus Guilherme who is only played as a cameo role.
However these talented players shouldn’t continually be called ‘wonderkids’ just adds pressure.
This obviously causes Nano a problem, who should be used regarding pecking order?
There is no lack of takers and he just needs to be brave.
Just need to look at how other teams are utilising their younger members.
No need to start Bowen in middle if situation arises Bowen will find his way into a scoring position.
Speaking of Bowen he won’t be going to Spurs because fee would be nearer £100m (already sold Kudus on the cheap).
We are all hoping he can get up to the fitness needed for the Premier league, we know Nuno will then play him in goal??,
His injury was a long term one and he had it when he moved to us.
So we 2 good young forwards from the academy and one who has already had a few minutes of senior football, so why are we still playing a 35yr old or Bowen in that position? Is it senior players have a number of games they must play wrttern into their contracts I wonder.
Every little helps, but we’re gone this season.
Another battering looms agains Newcastle….
Maybe he can chip in with a few goals in the Championship.
As the saying goes, it ain’t over ’til the fat lady sings!
There still time to turn this season around so long as Sullivan keeps to his word and gives nuno the funds to bring in players he wants rather than the hasbeens that Sullivan likes to sign on the cheap but if we are to go down one would hope we would make a fight of it instead of rolling over like we have been since Moyes left well forced out is more to the truth of the matter personally I can’t see much changing while Sullivan pulls the strings sooner him and Brady are gone the better nice to see the fans returning to Sheffield Wednesday now they have got rid of their waste of space don’t be surprised if Sullivan tries to bring him to West Ham he loves lost cause
