|

West Ham Chairman David Gold has come under fire after he became one of two Premier League chairmen to go on the record to support the £5m payment to outgoing PL Chairman Richard Scudamore.

Gold was door stopped BBC journalist Dan Roan and Sky News outside the Connaught Rooms in London following the meeting.

Gold said: “[He has led for] many, many years and deserves everything he gets!”  Sky News asked: Would you have liked to formally vote on the payment? Gold replied “It’s the committee, that’s what they are they for, that’s their job and that’s what they are doing”

Asked if he looked like greed Gold added: “You are almost looking for trouble, this is all very appropriate and we are all very pleased, the clubs support the action that has been taken”

Spurs CEO Daniel Levy also door stopped by Roan was the other supremo to go on the record by saying: “He has unique knowledge and experience which is going to be ongoing and benefit the Premier League for the next three years, we are all very supportive, It was absolutely a fair payment, it was discussed at the Premier League and it was a Premier League decision, it is a central cost, all the clubs are behind it”

The Premier League released a statement saying “The decision was made by the Audit and Remuneration Committee and the Non-Executive directors, supported and endorsed by the clubs. The payments, which will eventually total £5m, will be spread over the next three years”

He should have told Dan Roan to Foxtrot Oscar.

  • West Ham Fan No 32 says:

If Roan is so interested in shocking stories he should have run an article on why he thinks it is appropriate to discuss complete lies about someone recently deceased while a wreath is being laid for them.

  • Mr Buddy Lurve says:

What Scudamore decides to do with his own money, that he’s earned, is entirely down to him. What clubs do with their own money is down to them. The only greed on show here, is that of these ridiculous journalists looking to start fires because that’s what they’re PAID to do…. Move on.
