West Ham chase another James Ward Prowse?

West Ham are reportedly exploring the possibility of replacing Aaron Cresswell with Leif Davis from Ipswich Town, as suggested by several EFL news websites. These sources claim that the Hammers have initiated contact with Ipswich regarding the versatile player.

Notably, the left-back is recognised as a dead-ball specialist and consistently contributes as a creator during open play. The left footed Davis, has already accumulated 11 assists for Ipswich Town in the current season. The Newcastle born defender, progressed through the renowned Wallsend Boys before joining Leeds and contributing to their promotion to the Premier League in 2020.

Despite Emerson firmly establishing himself as West Ham’s primary left-back, the team appears lacking in backup options. Aaron Cresswell featured in both legs against TSC Backa Topola in the Europa League, playing 45 minutes in the initial fixture and committing several individual errors in the second leg.

With Cresswell’s West Ham contract set to expire at the end of this season, the club is on the lookout for alternatives for the left-back position.
