IT WAS DAVID MOYES who brought his ‘Czech boys’ to West Ham United, first Tomas Soucek and then Vladimir Coufal. Both went on to huge success, Soucek with over 250 senior caps and counting, right back Coufal 180. Their work ethic and popularity amongst the fan base was legendary and both were part of the Conference League winning side of 2023.

The Hammers are now looking to add another Czech international to the squad to provide greater goal keeping depth with the reportedly ‘imminent’ departure of  unwanted Dane Mads Hermansen. That’s the claim from givemesport.com whose article today highlights the Irons interest in Tottenham’s Antonin Kinsky:

“West Ham have now made contact with London rivals Tottenham over a potential move to sign Czech Republic international Kinsky this month. The 22-year-old joined the club [Spurs] in January 2025 under Ange Postecoglou…Kinsky has made just two appearances all season under Thomas Frank, both in the Carabao Cup, keeping two clean sheets in the process.”

Sought by Nuno: Tottenham’s ‘spare” keeper Antonin Kinsky

Whilst the distrust and animosity between the two sides is no longer at its Daniel Levy-era peak, it will still take a big effort to negotiate a deal to bring the Czech keeper to the Hammers squad mid season, as Tottenham are hardly likely to do their struggling east London neighbours any favours.

If I were Nuno, I’d not bank on Kinsky landing at London Stadium as an Areola alternative . The Portuguese head coach might just have to make do and mend with the goal keeping resources bequeathed to him by Graham Potter, at least until the relegation battle is decided.

From the old Bobby Moore Upper to the Billy Bonds' stand these days - sometimes- have to admit I have not renewed my season ticket... I've been watching since '03 and a supporter since about 1970..
Favourite player - Dean Ashton: Still watch YouTube repeats of the Cup Final of 2006 hoping in vain that Shaka Hislop grows six inches and stops Steven Gerrard's injury time equaliser. Can tell I'm getting old knowing I saw both Mark Noble's debut and his last game at West Ham.
Pulling on a Claret and Blue replica shirt still makes me feel the same butterflies as when I was seven years old. Magic.
