West Ham United are looking to solidify their central defence with the pursuit of Oumar Solet, a defender who has piqued the interest of several top clubs, including Liverpool.

The 24-year-old centre-back currently plies his trade for Red Bull Salzburg in Austria. According to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, Liverpool previously considered signing Solet in January but ultimately decided against it. However, Solet has been on their radar for a significant amount of time.

After failing to land their initial target, Jean-Clair Todibo, West Ham has reportedly set their sights on Solet, making him their top centre-back target this summer.

Standing at 6ft 3in, Solet is described as a “marauding centre-back” by Jacek Kulig of Football Talent Scout. This suggests a defender who is not only strong defensively but also comfortable venturing forward when the opportunity arises. His successful spell at Salzburg indicates he possesses the qualities needed to thrive in the Premier League.

While West Ham seems to be leading the race for Solet, they are not alone. Premier League rivals Aston Villa are also reportedly interested in acquiring his services. Additionally, there’s a chance that Liverpool could reignite their interest in the defender.

With Solet’s contract expiring in 2025, this summer presents Salzburg’s best chance to command a significant transfer fee for the defender.

West Ham appears to be the frontrunner in the race to sign Solet. However, Aston Villa’s presence and the lingering possibility of Liverpool re-entering the fray make this a transfer story with plenty of twists and turns to come.

How many other players are we going to be ‘leading the race’ but nothing develops?
Are we actually interested in them or is it just media talk?

Why I scroll past now, we’d have a squad of at least 50, possibly nearer to 100 lol

Looks good on YouTube clips although I might too! Confident on the ball but very right footed. Looks a strong fella .
