West Ham may be making little or no headway in their pursuit of top transfer target Ardon Jashari—but could be significantly closer to landing his club team-mate.

The Irons haven’t given up on signing Jashari, but hopes now rest on talks between Club Brugge and AC Milan collapsing.

According to breaking reports from Nigeria, West Ham are expected to accelerate their move for Nigerian midfielder Raphael Onyedika following the conclusion of their pre-season tour of the United States.

The 24-year-old impressed alongside Jashari in the Belgian Pro League last season and has been on West Ham’s radar throughout the current transfer window.

As Claret & Hugh reported yesterday, Jacob Ramsey remains a serious consideration, but it seems moves are being made behind the scenes to secure both a midfielder and a goalkeeper.

Several players are also expected to leave in the coming weeks as Graham Potter looks to trim down his squad. However, an agent confirmed to C&H yesterday that West Ham are actively negotiating for incoming signings.

Whether Raphael Onyedika is one of those deals in progress remains to be seen—but the wheels appear to be turning if todays reports are to be believed.

Hammers Chat my first game was West Ham 10-0 Bury . . . seriously!
We than went and bought Bury's central defender šŸ˜¬āš’ļø Irons

I started Hammers Chat alongside my partner in crime Geo back in 2014 and brough in to Claret & Hugh by my old mate Hughie to produce videos a couple of years later.

I give West Ham opinions and interviews on Sky Sports News and even did a bit of moonlighting on BBC Football Focus. Former video and content creator for West Ham United back in the days of Upton Park. I was lucky enough to feature in the documentary broadcast on that final wonderful game at the Boleyn when Winston Reid broke Manchester United hearts.

I frequently feature on BBC Radio 5 Live and once ate a biscuit in Tony Gales shed.

Connoisseur of salted caramel doughnuts and I love a Sloppy Giuseppe pizza although I'm slightly suspicious where the name came from.

When I'm not moaning about West Ham I can be found walking a dog that looks like a sheep and tinkering with pinball machines.

More West Ham moaning is done on a daily basis here šŸ‘‡šŸ‘‡

Let’s hope we can bring in some pace in the midfield. I feel like this has been a problem which has never been rectified for a long time. Will be great to go into a new season with a youthful and energetic midfield.

Yet to see a single report from the Nigerian media be correct

Not holding my breath Gonzo šŸ™ƒ

Why are the management looking for midfielders from all over Europe?

Surely, if Paqueta feels that the Club has backed him over the past two years in his fight against these charges and that he wishes to reciprocate that assistance, he would stay with us, even for the next season and inflate his worth both to himself and financially to WHU.

On his day he can be magnificent, rarely shown in recent times, but the charges hanging over him have given him so much self doubt about his future which now has been lifted.

Let’s hope we can keep him, even for one season.

Now here’s some good news if we actually get him gonzo, he has everything we need and are severely lacking in the middle of the park, now if you could persuade potter to ditch his 3-5-2 formation get Bowen wide right and a midfield of onyedika, Paq and either Potts or Alvarez (if he stays) and that engine room looks capable of getting us playing on the front foot. The only problem is Sullivan and I can’t help but think it’s going to be the cheap option of brownhill

  • Matt says:

Hopefully Rodriguez leaves and Paqueta remains.

Without Lucas our creativity will fall through the floor. With his FA case behind him I’m looking forward to seeing him play with freedom and a smile on his face again.

Definitely need legs in midfield otherwise we’re bang in trouble. Shame Orford didn’t start instead of JWP last night. With any luck that swap happens against Bournemouth at the weekend.
